Seaside

The Only Sunny Day

 The sun was hovering up in the sky,

As my feet trekked along the beach,

The sand imbetween my toes,

The wind in my hair.

The silhouettes of my family cast a lovely picture,

Making the most of today,

I heard little children chuckle,

I saw little children jump over the waves;

Just like I did when she was their age,

I remember that,

My Nan and grandad had taken me to the seaside,

They used to swing me in their arms,

They bought me that lovely mint choc chip ice cream,

It ran down the cone onto my hand as it melted,

I remember my Nan saying,

‘At least we know that summer has entered’

I used to make little rivers that went up to my Nan and grandad chair,

And then we went crabbing,

I was a bit scared at first but I got the hang of it.

Now, I’m very different to before,

I now just lay down on the beach towel,

Waiting for the perfect tan as my little brother begs me,

“Come look at the castle I made”

I look up,

It looks exactly like mine when I was his age;

The most around it filled with salty water,

And a mini crab on the top that took at least half an hour to find.

I’ve now realised how much I’ve missed the seaside.
