I was born a bastard in 1942, in Louisville, Kentucky and over my life until age sixty, I lived up to the reputation, though it wasn't my true nature. I suspect it was due to the fact I was raised in a Catholic orphanage and I had this burning desire to fit-in, to be acknowledged and to never be dependent upon anyone. I am not suggesting this was the fault of the orphanage. If a child had no home, this was a wonderful place. Clean clothes, plenty to eat, friends to play with and a cozy bed to dream of getting out? We had it all, but the good Sisters had no time for love. I sought it immediately upon getting out in 1956 and the result was six beautiful children who have now produced sixteen grands. Yes, five beautiful daughters and a son who is now deceased. He was a police officer and was killed in the line of duty. My best friends death changed me at sixty-five and going to prison helped it along. I wrote a book, "A Sordid Prosecution," which details the wrongful prosecution and conviction for which I served sixty-one months. Today, I am a better man, and thankful for realizing that money does not buy contentment...I live now frugally, giving away all money except for the needs of a minimalist. I do not need the trappings of wealth, I have those in my dear children, grands and a great-grandson and the loving memory of my son.
ABOUT THE ARTIST/ AUTHOR/POET
“It is said that time heals all wounds…I do not believe that…I believe that wounds are covered by scar tissue which mask the damage but never cures.” Rose Kennedy
The books I have written and art I have painted is offered on my website in an attempt to remove the emotional scar tissue gathered over seventy-five years. I agree with the grand old lady, Rose Kennedy. Time does not heal, and the scar tissue never goes away. All we can do is try to keep the emotional scars contained and keep the damage from spreading to those we love through a life of simplicity, honesty and love.
