I was born in South Africa, studied Medicine then and moved to the London within a few years of graduation. I spent 15 years in London and moved to Australia in 2001. I was based in a School of Public Health and Community Medicine for about 10 years but chose to move to a Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and the School of Social Sciences (UNSW) a few years ago. I have always felt that sharing insights, writing and stories would contribute to building understanding and tackling inequities and abuses.
