twenty one pilots started in 2009, nick, Tyler, and Chris were all in high school and decided that music was a good enough reason to drop out.  Chris and Nick weren't able to commit to the band so Chris brought his friend Josh along and Josh and Tyler automatically got along and started growing a huge friendship.
