La Trobe University: A Few Facts for International Students

La Trobe University is located in Melbourne and is among the 100 best universities in the world according to The Times. It has more than 200 educational courses at which about 36 thousand students are studying, including 8000 foreigners. The university consists of five faculties.

La Trobe University offers students a variety of preparatory, undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate research programs. The structure of the university includes two colleges - the College of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Commerce, as well as the College of Exact, Engineering, and Health.

La Trobe University works closely with 260 research universities around the world and is part of the Australian IRU (Innovative Research Universities). Active research work - from politics, business, literature, and culture to behavior and gender differences, brought the university worldwide fame and recognition. La Trobe University is also famous for its educational library, which is considered one of the best in Australia.

The university is located on the territory of 7 campuses - Melbourne (2 campuses), Albury-Wodonga, Bendigo, Mildura, Shepparton, and Sydney. The main campus of Bundoora Campus University is located in a beautiful area surrounded by a park 14 kilometers from the center of Melbourne, the capital of Victoria. The main campus is 1.7 square meters. km., where most of the faculties are located, as well as residences, canteens, restaurants, a pool, banks, shops, libraries, etc.

La Trobe University offers such programs as:

English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS). It includes studying general or academic English with a view to enrolling in the Foundation program, undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate studies at La Trobe University.

Foundation program. The Foundation Program prepares international students for their studies at La Trobe. The program runs in the following areas: Business and Social Sciences; Engineering and Computer Science; Healthcare. After completing the program, students enter the first year of La Trobe University.

Diploma program. It is a preparatory program, at the end of which students are enrolled in the 2nd undergraduate course at La Trobe University. Here students can study Bioscience, Business, Engineering, Information Technology, Mass Media and Communications, Health Science.

Undergraduate Programs. The directions of study for undergraduate programs are the following: Accounting; Finance; Business; Information Technology and Engineering; Business Information Systems; Biomedicine.

Postgraduate Programs (Master). The admission requirements: Bachelor's degree, English: IELTS 6.5 / TOEFL 80 or equivalent for international students. The program duration is 2 years. Directions of study for master's programs are Accounting, Financial Analytics, Electronic engineering, Management in the field of biotechnology. Studying at this program can include writing a thesis. For admission to bachelor's programs, in Australia, in addition to a certificate of secondary education, the results of first-year studies are required. As an alternative, immediately after graduation, you can enroll in the Foundation program at the University College (ANU college). The level of English for bachelor's and master's programs must be at least 6.0 IELTS. For admission to the Foundation studies program, IELTS must be at least 5.5. For some programs, work experience and other additional requirements are a prerequisite.

La Trobe University offers students accommodation in campus residences, which have all the conditions for a comfortable stay, as well as gyms, cinemas and places to relax. Students can also live in an Australian family or rent an apartment on their own.

The university organized special living conditions for its students: psychological assistance in adaptation, assistance in English, assistance in finding work, conditions for believers, for those who have children - kindergartens and nannies.
