I go do my writing in spurts. I will spend a month here or there telling an amazing story that I watch inside my head like a movie, and then put it all down when the movie pauses or gets interrupted. I have written one novel to the point I'm comfortable allowing a select few to read, and the second part of that book is nearing completion. My only hurdle in completing it is to figure out if I have enough to say to do a third or if my characters have said all they can.
I have completed NANOWRIMO every year since 2011, and it has yielded some pretty decent work my favorite being "The Curse of the Thorns." A novella I'm proud of, but it will never grow, it is perfect at 51K words, well perfect for me at least.
I don't write to get rich and famous, I write to tell a story. In my story telling I never edit until I have something I enjoy reading so expect a lot of raw material. The best thing I can say about the pieces I'm proud of is that I have read them many times and some of the jokes still make me laugh out loud. Some of the excitement still fills me with pride, and some of the drama hurts my heart. If you feel the same way about something I've written please share that with me, if you don't, well keep that to yourself.
