 *Chapter* 1

1943, lived a young boy named Jack Harris, who lived in a small home in Lancaster. Jack was 17 years old, he was quite a lonely boy as he didn’t have any friends. Although he didn’t have any friends, he still had his mum and brother to look after him. Jacks dad had been killed by one of the gang members the dad was in, since that day Jack has never trusted anyone.

The date was 13th of March and Jack was lonely, depressed and broken. He finally realised it was time for him to do something useful and help out with things. It took him a while to think what he could do and then he remembered his grandpa. Jacks grandpa died in the army a few years ago however his last words were, at least I died a hero, he grabbed his wife’s hand and closed his eyes in peace.

Jack had decided to join the army.

*Chapter 2*

A few months had gone by and Jack had been promoted and moved up in his army groups. Jack had met a boy named Ben and he was the kindest, most wholesome person. Ben didn’t have many friends either but now jack and Ben have each other and are friends now.

Ben was Jacks only friend and they were closer than any friends could be. They talked together, fought together and had fun together. They always relied on each other and could trust with there life. Nothing could bring them apart.

*Chapter 3*

It’s was 3 weeks until Ben and Jack first fight at war. They were both scared like the world all just put all here fears on them, but they knew they could make it together.

They had 18 days to train and 3 days rest. They trained harder than ever, sweat to fill oceans, determination even to dig through the world with a spoon and breaths to take all the oxygen from a Forrest in minutes. They got dirty, they got tired, they even cried at the pain they had to go through to get where they were in strength.

5 days left and Ben and jack were closer than ever, like magnets. They knew this could be some of there last days, but they didn’t want to waste it honking about how this entire time here could go to waste, they enjoyed there time here at camp.

Camp seems a horrible place but it really wasn’t. At camp you made lots of friends and did lots of fun activities like mud runs and paint ball fights. Even though camp was fun at times that wasn’t the reason people were happy, it was because for a lot of them it could be there last days...

*Chapter 4*

6:00am and captain sheriff walks in to the tents and shouts everyone awake. It was time. Time for the start of a new chapter, this could be a crazy heroic time in there life’s or a torturous, painful and useless time. Either way it had to happen.

They all woke and got all there kit ready. Jack and Ben were on different planes and were a bit disappointed but didn’t really mind. Before they got on the planes Jack had another chance to talk to Ben and said to him don’t worry Ben everything will be ok we are going to make it.

It’s was 8am and time to get on the planes. Jack levelled his helmet to smarten himself even though the second he gets on the battle field it would not be needed to look smart. He took a deep breath thinking of the air entering his poor lungs and exhaling through his dry, cracked mouth. He walks slowly towards plane 13 (his entrance plane). Mason was on the plane with him and jack shared a tent with Mason back at camp. He was glad he was on a plane with someone he knew.

The plane ride was around 50 minutes and that had gone very quick due to fear.

*chapter 5*

The plane was hovering over zakopane, the place where the war took place. And it was time to jump with the parachutes. Jack looked at the sky and made the sign of the cross as he took his starting steps off the plane into a new chapter.

The place looked record already but surprisingly quiet. Jack looked around to see if he could find Ben but there was no sign of him. Jack had finally landed on top of a 2 story motel with broken buildings surrounding and crouding him.

Jack had saw an enemy shoot Mason in the chest and jack screamed “nooo!” Mason shouted “run jack, run don’t fight, you have a life left, you can’t fight these. I...” and Mason couldn’t finish his sentence as he enemy had taken another shot but at his head. Jack started to tear up as he hid behind the brick wall.

Jack ran. He ran from the enemy’s as they got closer. No one saw Jack as he ran. He got into one of the wrecked buildings and sat down. Jack continued to cry and thought about his family and what they would do without him if he didn’t make it home.

Jack decided to wait there till a teammate came and helped him.

It had been 7 hours till one of Bens friend had noticed him in the building on his own. His name was Curtis. Curtis had been shot in the leg and limped over to the building Jack was in.

Jack had offered to help Curtis but he refused and said “keep it for yourself bud you’ll need it soon.”

Curtis and Jack were on there own for hours as they had no where to go and no chance to explore as they’re were enemy’s everywhere.

Curtis and Jack started to get hungry, I wouldn’t blame them as they were there for hours maybe days. They decided to do something about this as they weren’t going anywhere either just waiting.

They decided to go outside and see if the enemy’s were still there to stop them exploring.

They packed there bags and when Jack was picking all his stuff up to put in his bag, he had found a picture of Curtis and his children with a message on the back saying “we love you daddy, please don’t leave us.” At that moment Jack knew he must do everything to protect Curtis.

They got all there stuff ready and went outside slowly. They looked around and no one was there. They both smiled and laughed with joy.

*chapter 6*

They were walking down the streets and saw some buildings on the way. They decided to go check them out to find some recourses. One building stood out to them so they decided to go check it out.

They went in side and the footsteps seemed unusually loud. They looked in each room to find food. Jack had entered a room that looked like a kitchen and saw someone dead on the floor with blood dripping from the mouth. Jack screamed and said “Curtis come here!” Curtis has ran over and patted jack on the back and quietly said “its gonna be like this but with me your okay.” Jack hugged Curtis and said “thank you.”

It was time to go out he building and explore further for more allies. They went outside and heard gunshots. Repetitive gunshots in fact. As if it was a fight. They decided to go check it out.

*chapter 7*

They both ran over light footed so it wasn’t so obvious. They stopped behind a building and made a plan. Jack would go over to the building next to it and then Curtis would shoot in the air to get there attention while jack would throw a grenade.

Jack ran over to the other building and looked over at Curtis and mouthed “3,2....” “shit!” Shouted jack. There was a man that saw Curtis and was held at gunpoint. Jack shouted “nooo, not again!” Jack thought quickly and quicker. He just did it. He ran and ran faster than he had before, the guy who had Curtis at gun point noticed him as jack jumped onto him. Jack shouted to Curtis “ run for me my friend and tell my loved that love them, and you I love you brother.” Curtis ran “nooo, don’t do this.” Shouted Curtis.

Jack was on the floor with the enemy and said, “justice shall be served.” Jack had the enemy tight in the floor not able to move and jack had reached out for a grenade in his back pocket. “Nooo” shouted Curtis. “Good bye Curtis.” Jack said emotionally. The grenade was set off and jack whispered “see you in hell.” To the enemy.

The grenade ticked for 3 seconds and boom... everyone near heard just a straight white noise and had to blink multiple times to finally see again. Curtis looked over where jack was. Curtis cried as he saw jack lay there with his hand wrapped around the cross which he would wear around his neck 24/7. Curtis got his gun and said “it didn’t have to be like this.” Curtis didn’t have a choice but to fight for jacks sacrifice. Curtis ran and ran faster over to the enemy’s and screamed while he shot  each and everyone of the 8 enemy’s “yall chose this.” Curtis shouted.

They were all dead and Curtis was on his own just sitting crying at the fact everyone he loved was gone. Curtis walked over to jacks bloody body. Curtis lay with jack and held jacks hand as he cried swimming pools and oceans.

*chapter 8*

Back in Lancaster with jacks mum and brother, they were living everyday with fear jack would never come home as he was the only thing they had left. Jacks brother tommy was recently diagnosed with ukemia but had never told anyone. Tommy had only a few days left, everyday he would spend as much time with his mum before he would pass.

It was one morning and tommy woke up covers in blood he had coughed up. His mum rushed him to hospital as she went wake him up. Tommy had passed with the words “I’m sorry mum, I love you.” At that point the mum stopped the car and burst into tears as she screamed out to god “what was your plan!” His mum grabbed his hands right as Tommy’s eyes slowly closed.

*chapter 9*

A few days had passed and the mum had flew over to the camp in Poland to wait for jack to come back. She waited all day every hour every minute for jack to come back. The mum had waited for 56 days straight and there was no sign of jack as he was meant to be back 2 months ago. The mum still had hope he would return.

A few boys had returned and it was the same plane jack left in, plane number 13. Jacks mum was screaming happy and ran over to the plane opening the door for them. Everyone in the plane had missing Lims and covers in blood.

She looked around the plane and couldn’t seem to find jack. She asked one of the lads where he was and the lad looked up at jacks mum cried and said, “didn’t you here.” The mum took a minute to intake what he just said. She cried, sniffing through her nose, as hundreds of tears cane falling down. She fell onto the floor and screamed crying, “why god, why!” She quietly cried as she got closer to the ground and lay there staring at the sky with her hand over her forehead.

Jacks mum was called Christina and 20 days after she heard the news about jack she had given all her money away to army charity’s as she had no one left to give it to. The same night as her dead husbands birthday was the same night Christina tragically hung herself with jacks uniform, stepping off from Tommy’s wheelchair with a picture of her husband in front of her as she cried and her airways stopped and she closed her eyes...
