The American Basketball Association has merged with the National Basketball League after three years in 1949, and the league name was changed into the current National Basketball Association (NBA). Red Auerbach: he won nine NBA championships with the Boston Celtics team. His coaching career started in 1946 and ended in 1966. 

John Kundla: he won five NBA championships with the Minneapolis Lakers team. His coaching career started in 1948 and ended in 1959. 

Pat Riley: he also won five NBA championships with Los Angeles Lakers ( four titles) and Miami Heat in 2006. His coaching career started in 1981 and ended in 2008. 

Gregg Popovich: he won five NBA championships with the San Antonio Spurs team. His coaching career began in 1996 and continues to this day.
