The "Jisei," or The Traditional art of the Death Poem, is poetry which has been written or recited by Zen Buddhist practitioners especially in moments before imminent or looming death, and is a practice which began in feudal Japan by the Samurai - a warrior class, but has found many new forms and means of expression by many none-Buddhist, none warrior peoples across the world.
