Chapter 1

"Alexis Cooper! Hurry up, you're gonna be late! Your brother's waiting for you!" Mom had quite a temper this morning. This was the third time she shouted at me today. She did not always call me by my whole name, unless she's really pissed off, or moody.

"Alexis! What's taking you so long?!" I heard a loud knock from my bedroom door.

"I'm coming, mom!" I replied to her. I went to open the door and ready to leave, but she was blocking the door way, "What is up with you today? You seem a little--" She cut me off and she was staring at me blankly.

"Now, you don't want to be late on your first day," She said calm and sweet now, just like what mothers always do.

"Uhh...I'd better go," I said awkwardly because I was feeling weird. My mom was never like this. You know the sudden change of mood. I hugged her before I went downstairs to grab something in the kitchen and went straight to the garage. "Have fun!" I heard her yell from upstairs.

"Hey!" I greeted Anthony, my brother. He's a year older than me. But he failed when he was in 5th grade. So we were classmates, or batch-mates, which was quite awkward.

"Just get in!" Anthony whined, annoyed.

"Jeez, what's up with you people?" I got in the car and stared at him. But he glared at me. His eyes were dark, and scary. And not to mention, his hair was so messy, just like he got out of bed. I mean, why couldn't he fix himself just a little bit? He was wearing his the-so-called favorite black t-shirt that if you put a stain on it, he would do what he wanted with you, and that was a bad thing or even worse. But overall, and to be honest, Anthony's good-looking. I preferred that term instead of using the word 'hot'. I think it's gross to call your own brother that. But a lot of girls in school were drooling over him, based on my best friend, Megan. Sometimes, I think Megan had a thing for him. The way she looked at him, talked to him. You know the usual. My instincts were telling me that there was something.

"What took you so long?" Anthony asked, a little bit irritated. We were always fighting by the way. We argued but we cared for each other. Just like how brothers and sisters are. We were just not that showy of our feelings.

He started the engine and we drove off to school.

"Sorry, I was looking for my planner." I was looking for my planner just to found out it was at the bottom of my bag. Planner was the first thing I need when going to school. I wanted everything to be organized.

"You could find it later, you know. We're almost late." Still, sounded irritated.

"I know I know. But you know I can't leave for school without it." I whined. And I looked outside the window as we passed Amanda Gibson's house. She was the most popular girl in our school. She was a true bitch. And I tell you, you don't wanna mess with her. She had records of her catfights. And there were plenty. She did not get expelled because her father donated massive amount of money to our school every year. And guess what? Anthony had a crush on her, even though she was a selfish attention seeker bitch.

"Ma-" I cut him off just as he started to talk.

"What happened to mom?" I asked, still looking out the window. "She seemed a little moody today." I fixed my things as he parked the car.

"I don't know, she's like that when I went for breakfast." He shrugged and turned off the engine.
I shrugged, too. "K. Hope she'll be well." I opened the car door and looked at him. "Megan will give me a ride later. No need to wait for me." I informed him. I got out of the car.

"Yeah, sure" he removes his seatbelt and got out too. Then we went our separate ways. We were in the same year, but we had our different group of friends. Well, he had a group of friends while I only had one true friend.

"Alex!! Alex!!" I heard Megan over the crowded noise. I stopped in my tracks and turned around to wait for her in the middle of the hallway. She was wearing her favorite purple tank top with her white cardigan and her favorite denim skirt. What's with people wearing their favorite clothes today? Megan was more fashionable than me. I just wore a blue top with a very pretty abstract print on it and a pair of comfortable jeans and my favorite knee high brown leather boots. Oh. I was wearing my favorite too. Anyway, I liked to be this simple. I loved it.

"I miss you!" Megan finally reached me and hugged me. Gosh, how much I missed this girl. She might be annoying at times but I loved her.

"I miss you too!!!" I pulled back and smiled my biggest smile. She was smiling too...and she was jumping up and down. She was excited with something...definitely not seeing me. The way her brown eyes sparkled telling me it was about a boy.

"Stop jumping and tell me!" I was trying to calm her down by putting my hands over her shoulder. She was smiling like an idiot. "Who's he? What's he like? What does he look like--" She cut me off and we started walking towards our lockers.

"Ok ok!" She giggled like a little girl.

"He's new. I've never seen him before. I saw him in the parking lot." We had now reached our lockers and she was jumping again.

"Stop jumping, will you?" I laughed and put my hands over her shoulders. I opened my locker and arranged my books.

"Ok. He's so hot!" Megan stopped jumping now and fanning herself with her manicured hand. "I didn't memorize his features but he sure is hot!" She was now more calmed. Megan was like this, we were opposites. She was interested in boys, while I, Alexis Cooper, despised them. Seriously freaking hated them. Or I was just afraid to be hurt. Or they were just jerks, dickheads, assholes, or anything you'd like to call them. I was just not into them.

The first bell already rang and we closed our lockers and head to our first class.

"I'll see you later?" Megan asked me smiling.

"Yeah sure." I smiled back and we went to our classrooms.

I found my room and went in. I chose the very back seat near the window. I never wanted to be called by the teacher. In fact, I'd love to be invisible. But there was someone sitting there. I didn't recognize him though, probably he was new. He kept on rummaging in his bag, looking for something valuable, I thought. I just sat in front of him, the next seat I planned to sit on. Even on seats I got plans, I'm weird, am I not?

I settled in and in just a minute Mr. Salvatore came in, our history teacher. Everyone in class stopped what they were doing, especially the girls, they found Mr. Salvatore too hot to be a history teacher.

"Good morning!" Mr. Salvatore greeted us. "I'm quite in a hurry; we had an urgent meeting right this minute." He glanced at his Rolex and continued. "So, I'm going to leave you with an assignment. Please read chapter 1 to 3. We'll discuss everything tomorrow. I know it's the first day of class, but we don't want to waste a day. So do that. You can discuss as a group or in partners. It's up to you. Just be ready for a discussion tomorrow." He glanced at his watch again. He must be really in a hurry. "That's it, class. You can go if you want." He left and all the girls were in awe, jaw dropped, and they started chatting about Mr. Salvatore and his hotness. I just rolled my eyes and grabbed my things and stood up.

When I started to walk, a hand suddenly grabbed my wrist that made me stop. I turned around in surprise. I definitely didn't do small talks with strangers. Well, to those who just grabbed my wrist.

"What?" I asked, annoyed. I stared at the boy. I had really never seen him here before, he was new. As soon as I answered, his smile fades. He sensed that I was annoyed.

"I'm sorry..?" His brows furrowed and by his looks he was confused. He got this sexy deep voice that every teenage girl talked about. He had gray eyes, and a little bit messy looking brown hair. Overall, he looked good. And he was still holding my wrist, which was awkward. So awkward. So I pulled away.

I shook my head slightly. "Uhh.. It's good. What is it?" I heard myself and my voice was so small. What the hell? What happened to my voice? He smiled. Oh god his smile....is sooo--stop! He's a boy Alexis! You hate them! Ok now I'm back to myself.

"I was just wondering, uhmm..." He scratched his head and smiled again. Good gods please don't let this boy smile again! "I'm planning to stay in the library for awhile, and I don't know where it is." And he smiled again! Ugh! This boy! Couldn't he stop?!

"The library..." And my voice sounded weaker again. What the hell was wrong with me?! This boy just smiled and he got this effect on me. I had been hating on boys all my life. And I still hated them. But this boy was so irresistible. He was so...uhmm...what was the word? Hmm..oh yeah..hot. He was so hot! Oh god what happened to me? To Alexis Cooper?

I heard a cough and suddenly I realized he did it to get my attention. "Uhmm..?" He stood up and god he was so lean and broad, and so tall, but he was taller than me. I'm 5'6" and he was probably a 6 footer.

"I'm going to the library,--" he cut me off. He cut me off!!! What the hell?!  Who in the world was he to cut me off?!

"Great! We can go there together!" He smiled and grabbed my wrist, again. He pulled me out of the class before I could reply.

Chapter 2

Chapter 2

"Wait!" I yelled after him. We were now in the hallway and he stopped pulling me. Thank God! but no, a lot of students in the hallway were looking at us and he was smirking! I was pretty sure the girls were murmuring about him, because like I said, he was hot!

"What's up with you?" I examined my wrist because I was positive I'd get bruise with his tight grab. Ok, so I asked this questions a lot just this morning. But seriously? People were odd today.

"Did I hurt you?" His face was worried as he examined my wrist too.

"I'm sorry." He said as soon as he saw the red mark on my wrist. I shrugged and started walking to the hallway that led to the library. He followed me, of course. The thing was, I didn't know why I was helping this dude. I didn't even know him.

"Hold up!" I heard him, catching up to me. I was walking as fast as I could just to get this boy over with. We finally reached the library, I went in and went straight to my favorite spot in the library.

"Thank you, by the way." I could hear the boy still following me, and I was pretty sure he was smiling right now. It was like he knew he could drive girls crazy with just his smile.

When I reached my 'spot', I felt so relieved that the boy was finally gone. Thank God! I couldn't spend another minute, no no, another second with him around. Seriously, I had never been like this for 3 years now. I had never felt my heart beat fast again after what happened to me and Cal.

Cal Brooks was my ex-boyfriend. He was so handsome, nice, like every girl dreamed of, but everything was changed when Josh, the most popular guy in our school, came into our lives. Cal had been the talk of the school for a week, because he was nice, handsome, approachable, kind, everything! And Josh of course got jealous of the attention Cal had, so he threatened Cal that if he would not join their gang/group/whatever, he wwould be expelled from our school. That was not it, to join their gang, Cal should not have relationships with people like me--you know, unpopular. Josh had the power to expell students from our school. He always used that to threaten people. Josh was the same as Amanda, and as far as I know, they had something special between them.

It was already lunch and I was sitting right in front of Megan, who was busy talking about the hot boy she was referring to. But I was busy eating burger and I didn't understand a thing she was saying.

"Alexis!" Megan snapped her fingers several times in front of me.

"Oh yeah, what it is again?" I replied, clueless.

"I researched that boy I saw in the parking lot this morning." She proudly smiled like she just won an award. I nodded and continued eating.

"It turns out that he was expelled because of....the site didn't say what it is, but I'm pretty sure he's a bad boy. Because our school is the only one who's willing to accept him." She made a face that I'm not sure what it was called. I just continued eating my burger, I was so starving. Plus, I was so not interested in this topic.

"I think he's the same as J--" Megan suddenly stopped talking so I looked at her. She looked like she just saw a ghost, her eyes were so big and her jaw dropped. She was not even moving.

"Hey! Are you ok?" I waved at her face to get her attention.

"Th-The.. " She blinked a few times.

"What is it?!" I was becoming impatient.

"A-a-approaching." She sipped her iced tea, and took a bite of her burger and chewed as fast as she could.

"What approaching?! Who's approaching?!" I was slightly shouting at her 'cause jeez I didn't understand what she was trying to say.

"Meg--"

"Hello," That voice was familiar. I was sure I'd heard it this morning. Oh god, not him again. Megan really looked funny right now. Her eyes were so wide and her mouth was full and she was not moving, like she was a statue.

"Hello," A familiar voice repeated itself but louder this time. I turned around and wishing it was not him. But it was him! Couldn't he find his own group of friends? I just rolled my eyes at him and sipped my iced tea. Megan, however, was still stunned.

"Can I sit with you?" He was using his killer smile, again.

"Uhh..yeah sure. We're almost done anyway." I didn't look at him this time. He took the seat next to me and in that instant, I could feel a lot of curious eyes were glued to our table. I stood up and ready to leave while Megan was still in awe.

"Megan, I'll just go to the restroom and probably go straight to my next class." I informed her, she just nodded.

Ok, maybe he wasn't that bad, I mean he was handsome, hot as they all say, but whenever he was with us or me, all the attention were drawn to us and I hated the feeling of it. I didn't want to be the one they were talking about. I was happy now that I was living my life in silent.

I was so so so relieved that I didn't see that boy to any of my classes anymore. Megan texted me that she couldn't give me a ride home because something urgent came up. My brother already left so I took a bus. Once I got home, my mom was making snacks which is unlikely. She never made snacks unless someone was coming over or there was already a guest.

"Where's Anthony? I don't see him in school and the car is not in the garage," I approached my mom while she was cutting potatoes on the counter and her mood was the same as it was this morning.

"Oh, he went to the store to buy materials for his project. Can you get another potato, honey?" She pointed to the potato near the sink. I gave it to her.

"Why are you making snacks? Do we have a visi-" The doorbell suddenly rang.

"That must be them, go get it, sweetie." Them? Who? I opened the door slowly.
