When I was young, I hated writing. But I suspect that was because when you're in elementary school, and you're just learning the ropes, they have too many rules and restrictions. I prefer to play with those rules and restrictions, personally.

Now I just write for myself, and I love it! I write when I'm bored or on a long bus ride home. I write when I'm lonely or when something inspires me. I write knowing that much of it (probably most of it) won't be described as "good", but I write anyway. I used to write for other people's approval, but that took too long and was too tedious. Everything's "been done" before. You can find problems with anyone's style. They say there is more than one way to skin a cat, and I think the same can be said for writing a book.

I'm currently working on my second novel, my first one shared here, and so far I don't know where it's going. All I know is that it's set in the mountains. I work in a school in the mountains, and I'm amazed by how much nature affects daily life there. I also have a burning urge after playing so many RPGs to write what mundane life is like in a fantasy world, and how the effects of the main stories in those worlds affects characters who are not heroes. So far, I'm not thinking of any one game in particular (though I like Skyrim's setting with all those mountains), but we'll see how it grows over the next month. ;D
