Granger Plastics: Home for Rotomolded Products

Rotomolding is the process that allows plastics to be manufactured in such a way that creates durable parts. Rotomolded products are not prone to damage from chemicals, or environmental stresses easily. Rotomolded products can be found in a variety of applications from agricultural tanks, nuclear war head covers, play ground equipment, pallets, to tornado shelters, construction materials, etc. The combination of the rotational molding process and the materials are what constitute the extra-ordinary parts. What then is rotomolding?

Rotomolding

You may be wondering what makes this process so special from other plastic manufacturing methods you know of, or what advantage these rotational molded parts really have. During the processing of plastics, pressure/force is required to mold the plastic. However, rotomolding uses the swift movement of the mold to produce the part thereby making the roto molding process stress free.

Rotomolding is a multi step process that employs four different stages which includes: loading the mold, oven cycle, pre-cooling and cooling, unloading roto molded product.

Once the mold is filled with pulverized resin, it begins rotating bi-axially. It is then moved to the oven where the rotation process continues which is done by the PLC controlled arm. The pulverized powder is then warmed and liquefied. The mold undergoes cooling process in the cooling chamber as it gets ready to be unloaded and reveal the moulded part according to the client’s specifications.
