Chapter 1

It started like every abnormal day: My tall frame, shaggy blond hair, and my emo nature was waiting for my mom to bound up the stars screaming at me. Sure enough, she came up, barged in my room, and screamed at me.

"Get up! You're going to be late for school again!"

I quickly shot up after my mother shut the door and got dressed as fast as I could. I rushed to the bathroom and brushed my teeth, then I rushed to the kitchen, grabbing my backpack in the process, and gabbed my lunch and a piece of toast. I bolted out the door and made it to the bus stop just in the nick of time.

The bus pulled up and I plugged my headphones into my phone. As I did so, I could see a dark figure- no, a shadow- standing just outside my house. A scream tore through the air and with sudden realization, I realized it was my mother screaming. Before the bus driver could close the door, I scrambled to the door, bounding up the front steps with ease. I barged in search of my mother, only to find her  lying in a pool of blood. Her blood.

I immediately rushed to her side and held her head gently in my hands.

Two hours later, and I'm still at home. Completely alone, with the exception of the police that were here just earlier. I was shaking the entire time, and I don't know how I had gotten through the questioning from the police.

Then I realized. I hadn't filled my best friend, Covi, in on the situation. I reached into the pocket of my jeans and pullet my phone out, unlocking the screen and finding her name on my message list. I texted her the terrible news and she got to my house in 10 minutes. She was mid-height, with long, deep red hair that was tied back into a tight ponytail. She looked beautiful and she always would have a very cheerful personality. She cared very deeply about me, but I didn't want to dwell on that now. My thoughts were jarred when the same shadow jumped out at the two of us and slit our throats at the same.

Exact.

Time.
