Failed all my exams at school although I could read before I went there. I was a sea scout in Dublin and read a lot of stuff about the sea which meant that I liked the idea of being a sailor instead of learning a trade as my father suggested. So I went off first chance I got in a trawler named Kosmos. The wags on the quayside said it was the only submarine trawler in the world because it buried its nose in the sea. I gave that up quickly because I hated gutting the fish which I had to do as they came aboard. So I left the fishing business.
I have just started my Imaginary biography. This is meant to be about my long life and what I did or failed to do, but it will also be full of lies, untruths, more lies and vivid imaginings. I am 85 and chances are good that I am living on borrowed time.
