Chapter 1

White noise everywhere. Every radio station turned to white noise, and nobody can work it out. It was all over Twitter, Facebook, and the news, but nothing was explaining the fact that every radio station was just gone. Professional, official, pirate, or computer-based… Nothing was working and it was just making no sense. When the white noise disappeared something else occurred that made even less sense. The radio started speaking, and it said nothing except the name Jaden Lock again and again. It was a computer-generated voice that just said the name over and over again. There seem to be nothing to explain it, not even a tone of voice that indicated that there was some kind of message.

Maybe this Jaden was the person who had written this program that disrupted all of the radio signals globally. Well, that was the theory that was pretty much told globally along those social media networks until the theory was believed.

But it was not believed by Jaden Lock. Jaden had just about become a social recluse since the moment that his name has started to get read out over the airwaves. At first he had just tried to brush it off as a huge coincidence. However, it had certainly not taken long for people to start pointing the finger in an accusing way. Even his family had turned away from him, and he was sure that if you asked them than they would tell you that they had nobody in their family called Jaden.

So he sat all alone in the darkness of his flat, and pretended that he did not actually exist. He pushed a hand through his unwashed hair and hugged his knees. There was a knock on the door, but as he did every day he just ignored it. Jaden just continued to stare at the bleak wall in front of him. A spider crept along the wall towards the fly that had got caught up within his web. Jaden stomach growled almost in jealousy at the fact that the spider was going to get a meal. Something Jaden had not done for some time. He had actually lost track of time since his name started mysteriously being repeated.

The knocking stopped, but Jaden hardly noticed in his altered state of consciousness that occurs when you withdraw yourself from your own body completely. Where Jaden was he was warm, comfortable, not hungry, not tired, and, ultimately, not famous.

There was no way that he could tell that he was the wrong Jaden Lock. Well, on some level he did actually know this, but nobody was going to believe that he had nothing to do with those strange events on the radio. Everybody thought it was him, and he was a bit sick of the accusations. He knew nothing about the methods to make such a bizarre thing happen, and he was convinced that he did not know anybody did.

As he slid into death, radio returned.

Strange coincidence?
