Death Ring
Prologue
I couldn't believe when I did open the box on April Fools to see the sapphire ring. Just looking at the ring must have been thousands of dollars. This though felt like, why should I have the ring and not my little sister. But then again, the office lady did talk that this was past down for generations in my family.
But when I put the ring on, I felt a little bit of change inside of me. A feeling of happiness is felt in my body. This though felt a little wrong though, because maybe I might take it off my ring finger. Why can't I not get this off my finger, when it easily slip on. I am hoping that this ring isn't cursed for the rest of my life.

Chapter 1
"Why did you have to do that" Samantha said after realizing that her brother did a prank on her before April Fools. "Its not even time to prank yet".
You see her brother always delivers a prank on the 1st of April ever since she was 5 years old. Nearly everytime the prank succeed. This year she was hoping for the first time in almost six years, she wouldn't be fooled this time round. Her brother having other ideas of the plan.
"But I thought you like being pranked" Thomo explaining with a grin on his face.
"Not every single year" Samantha said straight back at Thomo.
Knowing what he had heard, Thomo left the room with Samantha sitting down on her bed. She thought of anything to try and maybe take revenge for six years of pranking. The only problem being that she didn't know any pranks. The pranks that she did thought up, was already used by her brother from earlier years.
"Come out, dinners ready" Courtney shouted across the house to get her children to the kitchen. The kitchen in which was modern to suit this style of year. The latest gadgets in terms of kitchen apprises, following into a 80s style lounge room. The three bedrooms was much like the kitchen in which the modern take is shown.
"We are all coming, except for Samantha" said Thomo in a quiet sense of a way.
"I am too, thank you very much" shouted Samantha.
When all of the family was sitting down, the same topics was discussed like "How was your day?" and "What did you learn?". The same topics starting to getting boring after a while.
"Nothing ever happens in this sleepy town" said the young one who was simply named C. The rest of the children agreed on the comment that their youngest said.
"You want to know the reason that we moved to this town?" said Courtney. The children who was starting to get bored, attempted to listen. "It was because I needed to move after the death of your father on our annervisly. Ever since then I am never feel like I should live in this world any more."
"That really didn't explain the question, like why here in this place?" said C
"Because of what you said about this town. To get away from the big cities where most of the news comes from" explained Courtney. "Mainly to a quiet place with no attention. Now should you be going to bed, its almost your bed time". Once the mother said that, the children went to the bathroom to brush their teeth. After that, it was into bed for hopefully another day at school.
Samantha struggled in her comfortable bed, knowing that her brother was preparing the prank for this year. She could feel the nervous energy starting to go up with clock clicking over to 12am. She knew what needed to happen, but she didn't have the energy to plan it. She would hope that Thomo wouldn't prank her first.
That day would be the last day for the family of normalness, because the next day the town of Penguin would witness a life-changing event. Everyone would be affected, not only in the town but in the world.
Chapter 2
Samantha knew something didn’t feel right when she awoke at exactly 7 in the morning. She was waiting for the prank that her brother was going to do on her. After ten minutes of waiting, she couldn't wait any longer and got out of bed to see why she wasn't pranked.
After going out of the bedroom, she went over to her brothers room to see if he was there. When she couldn't find him, she looked to see if their was a note back in her bedroom. Looking long and hard she couldn't find anything to notice that he was gone.
The back door rang with a familiar sound. Immentaly Samantha thought this might be the prank that Thomo thought off this year. She left the door alone, hoping that maybe they would go away. But when the ringing continuing to go, she went back to the door and opened it. She then stepped outside, looked around her door before going back inside.
After a quiet breakfast in which the suspicious continued to grow. Even the trip to the bathroom was quieter than it usually was for an April Fools.
"Where is the prank that you was going to do Thomo?" Samantha said. She waited for the reply and when it didn't come, she left the house to head to school which was only a couple of minutes away from her house.
"Hey Samantha" said one of the students
"Where is your brother?" said another of the students
"To be honest, I don't know" said Samantha as she looked behind her, to see more students but no Thomo and his friends behind her. The thought troubling her when she went into her homeroom and sat down in her chair to get mark off from the register.
After getting through the first hour unscathed, she was then called to the office exactly on ten. The next minute she went into the office hoping that this was good, not bad news.
"Your mother has gone to the hospital" said the office lady. Samantha upon hearing the news started to cry in hope that was true. The lady then continue to talk, "Your brother is already at the hospital, attempting to take care of your mother".
"What was the cause to go to hospital?" said Samantha in a nervous way.
"They don't know that at the moment" replied the lady
"What was the use of brining me then?" responded Samantha
"Basically to tell you about your mothers condition" replied the lady
"Ok then" said Samantha
"Samantha" said the lady when the thought of leaving came into Samantha mind, "Your mother wanted you to have this" as she gave the box to Samantha.
"May I ask what is in it?" Samantha questioned
The lady then back stepped for a minute before saying in a quiet voice "This was a give for the family of the Ryan's ever since this was created way back in 1784".
"I will keep it with care" Samantha said as she left the office and went back into her classroom for only five minutes before recess was called.
Two hours later, she was called back again to the office where she heard the shocking news that she didn't want to hear. The news that she weren't ready for at all.
"The bad news, is that your mother has cancer" said the lady with the emotion of sadness in her eyes.
