Trinity Reborn Part One: Truth

Prologue: Dawn of the Egyptian Empires

Deep in the deserts of Egypt two young women stand together to conjure up a secret hiding place. Far beneath the sands they hide away 5 swords, these are not just any ordinary swords, these swords are special. Forged by the hand of the Goddess Ma’at and given to five powerful sisters in hopes that they would bring about Truth, Justice, Hope, Peace and Faith to the world of men. Instead they brought about deceit, war, strife and death. Wars between the Gods and those that would oppose them had been fought for many centuries, once the dawn of men began the Gods and their enemies be it Demons or the like all decreed that they would no longer wage their wars amongst themselves and they would allow the realm of men “free will” to decide whom they would follow. Of course those that opposed the Gods found this a challenge worth pursuing as the Gods also decreed that they would not for any reason involve themselves in the dealing of men, for to do so would destroy the world as it was and they did not want to wipe out all of humanity. The other side found this most fortunate as they had no problems influencing the humans of this world to join their side. This is why the sisters were given these powers so that perhaps they could be the Gods and Goddesses protectors of the realm of men.

When the sisters failed it was a blow to the Gods and Goddesses of old that perhaps man was not capable of handling such power. Though there were many among them that believed that what had happened to the sisters had been unfair because they too were human as well and humans were not infallible, though if they were to actually admit to themselves Gods are not infallible either. All the Gods could do was watch as Kaylanna and Kiya the last remaining sisters went about the task of hiding their swords so that one day they could rise again with their sisters and reclaim their rightful place. But for now with sorrow tearing at their hearts they do what must be done. Is it unfair for the gods to place so much responsibility on five young women? Perhaps it was if they really sat back and thought about it they were asking too much of them, but again they believed and still believe that there are men and women amongst the humans of the world that are strong enough and powerful enough to do their bidding and to do it well. They created these women so that they would be able to hold the power and to use it wisely even if they were human and were fallible they truly believed that they would be better than that, strong enough to resist the temptations of power and what that power would and could bring but again all humans are fallible.

Kaylanna and Kiya hide the swords well to ensure that they will not fall into the wrong hands.  There is no map to find this chamber only memory, if one were to find it then nothing good would come from attempting to break into it as they were sure to keep the chamber protected at all costs against any and all magic that may attempt to break their spell. The sisters do their task in silence for fear of losing what little hold they have left of their sanity. With great care they hang their swords and the swords of their sisters into their places with a charm that only the sister deemed worthy will be able to undo. If that time should ever come it would not be now as three of the five were already dead, yet perhaps they could be born again and with hope those that came after them would not repeat their mistakes.

After their task is done and the swords hidden beneath the sand and protected by magic they go their separate ways, where they will end up is a question that can not be answered, both immortal with the power to live forever in this new and changing world. Where will they go? What will they do? Both wondering what their purpose is in this world without their sisters destroyed by betrayal. Who would want to live forever knowing that their sisters turned on them and betrayed them? To live with the regret that perhaps they themselves had not only failed themselves but their sisters as well, there was a way to keep them from straying so far from their path yet none had truly tried to keep them from turning. So in that they had failed to stay true to their vows to stand together through all trials and tribulations as sisters, they had not done that and for that this is where they are now. Maybe however there is some good left to be done in this world people still needed to be guided to the right path and shown the way. Perhaps that will be their quest to set right what was wronged, to bring about Justice for all the injustice that they had faced and to bring about Hope to the people that eventually there would be Peace.

What they did not know was that a deal had been made, a deal with the Great God Anubis by their sisters, Makara and Brehana whom had betrayed them. In this deal their sisters had bargained for their very souls, a deal that would force five young women to face five trials every One Hundred years until they either succeeded or on the Fiftieth trial they failed. But for every trial there must be rules and the rules of these trials would bring these unsuspecting young women together or destroy them all. Would any succeed? Or would they all fail damning them for eternity. None of the other Gods or Goddesses knew of this deal if they did they never would have allowed for it to happen especially not with the rules that had been set, nor would they have allowed anyone to die because of them. The trials themselves go against everything that they believe.

"The time has come sister, for we are all that is left of what should have been a great Trinity of power. Our sister Katara killed by our own blood, our own sisters have betrayed us and murdered those we loved, our husbands are gone there is not much left for us. Makara and Brehana have now paid for their crimes. Now it is for us to see what this world has to hold. Perhaps we can find someway to bring good back into the world, though I do not know how. Justice has been served to two of those that betrayed us yet there are more, and Justice will prevail." Kaylanna says facing her sister, her twin sister one that had been hidden from her from birth.

"Kaylanna, you can not Hope to find all those that have betrayed us. We should go and live out the rest of our lives in whatever peace we can find." Kiya says her head half bowed feeling the weight of the recent death of her sister Makara at her own hands.

"We were sworn to protect the weak, you the Protector of Hope should at least want to find a way to bring that Hope back into the world as it is my duty as the Protector of Justice to see that Justice is served, no matter the cost." Kaylanna says though her face is stoic her eyes show the pain, anger and toll that has been taken on her from her sister's betrayal.

Kiya sighs and meets her sisters eye "We deserve some peace, as you said there is nothing left here for us but broken hearts and sad reminders of what was. Nothing left of the love that we had for this place or the people, nothing at all of the happiness we once felt. Katara's daughter our only niece Nikaya is safe far from here as you made it so. There is nothing left here perhaps there is something more to be found elsewhere. We should try to find it."

Kaylanna shakes her head sadly "You are right sister there is nothing left for us here in our home. Perhaps we should move on to somewhere new. It may be best for us to go our separate ways sister, our own grief will follow us wherever we travel and with that we will only make each other miserable. This is goodbye my sister until such time as we may meet again. May the Gods and Goddesses watch over and Protect you always"

Kiya looks at her sister in shock not expecting her to go off without her. "But we swore to always remain by each other's sides no matter what may come. We pledged our lives to each other and to our cause, you would just break that vow now of all times?"

Kaylanna looks sadly at her sister "Our vow was broken when our sisters turned on us, there is nothing left of the vow we took. I can not continue on like this sister, we have been forced to do things I prayed never to have to do, yet in the end I was left no choice. This is my choice one that I have already made. I wish you well on your journey sister may we see each other again. Perhaps when next we meet it will be under better circumstances."

Kiya sighs knowing that she can not change her sister's mind once it has been made up "Then I will say this, may the Gods and Goddesses be with you on your journey and may they protect and keep you always. I hope to one day see you again and perhaps at that time you will be happier and will have found your purpose again"

Kaylanna half smiles hoping against hope that what her sister said will be true "I hope that you are you are right sister." she turns and mounts her horse "Merry we meet and Merry we part until such time as we meet again sister. May you find Hope and love and light along your path."

With that final parting Kaylanna turns on her horse and rides off into the desert leaving her sister, her twin looking on after her. Kaylanna pushes her horse into a fast run trying desperately  to run from the sorrow that tears at her heart.

Kaylanna and Kiya would never see each other again for their paths would never cross. The next time the sisters would be reunited would be in death when they learned of the deal that was made and the trials that five young women would be forced to face.

Some of the Gods weep at the sight of the sisters parting ways as it seems that this end will be the end of their hope of bringing the world of men together once more. Perhaps their ideals that Peace can truly rule the world once more is a bit ambitious considering they gave humans free will to choose for themselves and to live freely in whatever manner that they choose. Maybe what they were all missing Gods and Demons alike was that to achieve true Peace there had to be a balance between the two. Darkness and Light in balance and in harmony with one another, no more or less. Is it truly just about choosing sides? Let us find out.

This is where our story begins...

Chapter One:

Dartmouth College, Sunday, September 27th, 2015 0100hrs

Out in the middle of the green in the heart of the campus, five figures walk towards each other. If anyone passing saw them they would most likely believe that they were five friends or five strangers passing each other by while unusual for the late hour most would not give them a second look if not for their unusual dress. Three were robed in white and two in black cloaks, their dresses in varying color overly revealing for the time, their shoes are flat golden sandals with thin straps that barely keep them on their feet. Centuries ago they were sisters, choices made had divided them, now the stage would once again be set for the final time since a deal had been made.

While all of them look similar they are all different in ways, Kaylanna and Kiya are twins mirror images of each other with their long Black hair that curls and twists and sparkles like Raven's wings in the light extends from their heads to their waist. Both tall for the time they would have lived at 5'7" their blue eyes bluer than the waters of the Nile. Though they dress alike the colors they wear are different Kaylanna prefers Reds while Kiya prefers more softer colors like purple.

Katara the oldest with her dark brown hair which is straight as a pin and her chocolate colored eyes. Her hair just as long as her sisters yet braided with light blue ribbons threaded through it to match her light blue of her dress. She is the quietest of the sisters and perhaps the most thoughtful, but when it comes down to it she will fight for what she believes in. And she will always seek the truth.

Makara has dark brown eyes that look almost black in certain light, long black hair, black as the darkest night. While she was supposed to Protect and bring Peace to her people it was said that Peace did not walk with her but yet trembled in her shadow. Perhaps there is a softer side to her though one would not see it looking at her. She prefers to dress in black mostly to match her mood.

Brehana she is the most different from her sister's, long blond hair and sparkling green eyes. People could get lost in her eyes if they looked long enough, the youngest of the group yet no less deadly or cunning. She had joined her sisters last and while she was supposed to bring Faith to her sisters all she did was destroy what Faith they had left. She prefers to wear greens like the colors of the Earth and the grass.

A deal had been made centuries before this time by two of the sisters desperate to save their very souls from eternal damnation for the poor choices they had made. Now five mortal women would be tested and if they could succeed in passing the trials that would be set before them then the souls of the sisters could finally be free. It was written that every 100 years from the time the sisters died five girls descendants of the sisters would be tested in five trials one to represent each sister, if they succeeded then the sisters souls would be set free, if however they failed then they themselves would pay with their lives. Forty nine times the trials had taken place and forty nine times the trials had gone unsuccessful, this would be the last attempt as was agreed by all sides.

Though only two had made the deal all five had been caught up in the deal as to prove that the two could be redeemed for their choices all five had to show that they could once again stand together. Two had betrayed the other three, yet in the eyes of Anubis the God of the Dead the three that had stayed true to their paths had a choice as well. Anubis decreed that the three could have found a way to save their sisters before they turned and betrayed them and to prove that to be true all five had to be tested, this is the basis for the trials. There had been signs ignored by all sides that something was changing and if the sisters had any thoughts that there was an outside force at play they ignored that as well. For that they had to be punished in someway, but Anubis was smart he knew that the sisters would fail the trials because their hatred, anger and sorrow had changed them in ways that unless someone else could prove to them was founded on false evidence they would never believe anything else but what they felt in their hearts was true. That is why it had to be five different women, five innocent mortals that did not know the sisters history, did not know the crimes and atrocities that they had committed on each other. A fresh outlook and a fresh set of eyes to be the jury and examine all the evidence set before them to make the ultimate determination of right and wrong.

What none of them had planned for was that another would find their way into the trials, not to help but to turn these innocent women against not only each other but their cause. She would twist and manipulate them in ways that the sisters did not see coming and up until now she had succeeded in causing the others to fail, now that it had reached the end and the final set of trials, victory was nearly in her grasp. What the sisters had not learned yet was who she was and why it was she was doing this. Anubis did not seem fazed by any of this no matter how much they had pleaded with him to stop her, he decreed that he would not interfere and neither could the sisters. He had left them helpless in their power to help these women and time and time again they had to watch as they all failed slowly. The trials had taken their tole on the sisters over time, watching so many innocent women die because of them had broken their spirit, but again they could not stop the trials all together for Anubis would not allow that, a deal had been made and it would be abided by until someone succeeded or everyone failed.

Some of the other Gods and Goddesses did not agree with these trials nor did they agree with the outcome, it pained them to see the loss of innocent lives time and time again. But as of yet they had not stepped into stop the trials. They feared that to do so would start a battle that would be more harmful then good for all of humanity, but this time, this very last time Ma’at was watching closely because there was something about these five women that was so familiar to her. She had watched them as long as they had been alive, seen them grow into the women they were today, the motherly instinct in her wanted to protect them in anyway that she could though she knew that, that would go against all the rules. To her they were like her own children just as the original sisters had been, perhaps that is what called to her so badly was that they reminded her of the sisters so much so that in her heart she knew they had the power to succeed. And if it came down to it she would step in to protect them if need be because she too was tired of seeing the innocent die at the whim of Anubis.

These five seemingly normal women walking towards each other are anything but normal, they are in fact five Princesses, very powerful princesses. Born at the dawn of the Egyptian dynasties daughters of the Pharaoh. Two were hidden away by their mother just after their births, their mother a very powerful women herself sensed that great danger was coming for her children so to protect them she separated them. As they near each other their power ripples in the night.
Sisters in blood from their mother only as none of them have the same father. Katara being the only true daughter of their Pharaoh, all the others have different fathers. That is what makes them so different yet somehow the same.

"The time has come again sisters, to see if you can truly be forgiven or if you shall suffer for the whole of time" Kaylanna says looking to her two sisters the two that had betrayed them all " The test shall begin with the rise of the sun of the first day of the month if any or all shall fail you know the price to be paid"

"Yes, we know the price to be paid sister. Our souls will forever be doomed to darkness and pain until the end of time" Brehana says distain dripping from her voice

"Do you not have a care for these girls sister? They are innocent of all crimes that have been committed and yet they are the ones that must be tried in your place. Have not countless others died in your place because of your selfishness." Katara says anger filling her voice

Kaylanna sighs feeling bad for these girls as she does for all the others that have already been tried and failed. Though she knows there is nothing she can do this time to help just as all the times before she hopes against all hope that these five will finally break the curse. This was after all to be the final test win or lose there would be no more trials after this one, such was the price for making deals with the Gods.

"As do I sister but we did not make the rules nor did we make the deal that brings us back every hundred years. We must all play our part and do what must be done. Makara, Brehana, for your crimes you were punished and rightly and justly so, however you made a deal with the God Anubis for your souls, and here we stand once again in accordance with that deal. Remember sisters you are not to interfere in anyway with these girls on their quest. If you do you will sacrifice your souls and the deal will be done." Kaylana says staring her sisters down knowing that in the past they have tried to interfere to dire consequences.

"You are not allowed to interfere either sister remember that." Makara says being snide

"I am well aware of the rules Makara, however you do need to be reminded every now and then. We will be allowed to stop you keep you both from doing anything to interfere." Kaylanna says trying not to let her anger win.

"Yet that has not stopped others from interfering in the past. How are we to protect them if we can not interfere?" Kiya asks looking around as if she is sensing someone or something nearby

"We can not protect them, to try and do so would be seen as interference." Kaylanna sighs "All we are allowed to do is give them what power we can and pray that they use it wisely."

"Use it wisely that is funny sister, these people are selfish and petty. They know nothing of what it is to have true power. They will be like the rest and fail because they would rather indulge in the power they are given then use it for the task at hand." Makara says praying that this is not the case

"And if that holds true then you will lose. You brought us into this sister, I would hope that you would try and have more faith in these women. They are of course your last attempt at salvation." Kiya says anger filling her voice.

In the darkness and shadows another watches the five, still unknown to the sisters is her identity. Her tricks and misguidance had lead many of the others in the past astray of their path. She wanted to see the sisters fail so that Makara and Brehana suffered for their crimes for the rest of eternity. What is unknown to all of the sisters is that she is the real reason that Makara and Brehana turned from their paths and betrayed their sisters. What the new five will have to figure out is who this woman is and why it is she wants to see them fail. What was it that she knew that the rest of them always failed to see?

Could these five women find the truth and expose this sorceress for who she is and what she had done? Could they finally bring balance back to the divide that had been created? These are the questions to be answered and there are only five months in which to do so.

Brehana shakes her head "You have never listened to us in these last 5 thousand years why would you begin to listen now"

"We have listened to you, that does not mean that we believe you. Of course you have never once tried to bring forth proof of your accusations that someone or something else was at play in your decisions" Katara says her ability to tell when someone is lying has never failed her but for some reason when it came to her sisters it seemed as if it was the only time it had failed her.

"Well it is a good thing that finding the Truth is not up to you now isn't it?" Makara says on the verge of lashing out at her sister's rage building once again in the pit of her stomach the same rage she has felt for the last five thousand years, if they could not learn to agree now then it seemed they would never agree again "Considering I don't think you would know the truth if it bite you on the ass"

"Enough! This is not the time for swiping at each other. That time is done now we must focus at the task at hand. If you are truly innocent then let the Truth be found." Kaylanna says her power rippling even more through the air and around them all threatening to take action should it be needed.

"Someone is getting angry now." Brehana smirks at Kaylanna knowing that she shouldn't tempt her sister because Kaylanna will do as she says she will every time.

"Do not make me strike at you." Kaylanna says tired of her sisters snipping though she says it as a warning she is very close to actually doing as she says she will.

"You wouldn't" Makara says daring her sister even if she truly knows her sister will strike at them both of their behaviour.

"I would and you know I would." Kaylanna sighs "Let us go to our task. For tomorrow we change the lives of five young women. Go now and quietly mark your child as your own."

With that the five move off into the night where five young women sleep unsuspecting that their lives are about to forever be changed in ways they can not possibly imagine.

The sisters find where the girls are sleeping and mark each one that belongs to them, not a visible mark that can be seen with the eye but a mark of power that only someone with power can see. They can do no more other than to leave a mark on the girls for now. The passing of knowledge and power would come later once they all came face to face. For now the mark would only call the five together. It was like a deacon reaching out across the distance pulling them together a blood call as blood calls to blood. And while these girls did not know it somewhere along their family lines they are all related. They carry the blood of the sisters and something even more powerful that even the sisters had yet to uncover about themselves.

The trials would last 30 days each with the rising of the moon on the first of the month to the setting of the Sun on the 30th day. They would take place in the following order,

Truth to represent the sister Katara who was the first to die and the oldest, to seek the truth within the lies to lay the groundwork for the preceding trials. It would be the job of the women who stood for her to seek the truth within the lies told by Brehana and Makara and learn if there is in fact another force at work. And in the end she must also be able to identify the sisters and the element they are meant to represent.

Hope to represent the sister Kiya, if there is no hope then how is one able to continue the journey? This young women may have one the hardest job of all. To show the others that their is hope that this journey will end in their favor and the hope to find the right path. But if one does not have hope of their own how do they find a way to give others hope.

Faith to represent Brehana, though she betrayed her sisters and destroyed their faith in her, she must seek to restore that faith. The young women in her place must show that she not only has Faith in her friends but faith within herself to help find the way to the end. But what if someone else interfered and attempted to harm her? How would the others react? Would they be able to trust each other enough to have Faith that together they could save their friend?

Justice to represent Kaylanna, she may truly have the hardest job of them all. She must answer the hardest question of all. Was justice truly served? Did Makara and Brehana deserve their deaths? To examine all the evidence set forth by the other three and truly make a ruling before time runs out and if someone else is to blame how do they stop him or her? Who would be the Judge and Jury this time around?

And last but most important of all:

Peace to represent Makara, to truly have peace in the end, to stand once again with her sisters and to put right what was wronged. To truly have peace one must make sure that the journey is truly ended. An outside person must be dealt with and once that is done together the five must find the swords hidden well centuries ago and stand together and retake their vows. This might prove harder than you think.

All the women must find a way to bring forth five journals one written by the hand of each sister to help guide them along the way. But danger can be around any corner and sometimes the rules aren't so easy to follow. And pulling a journal five thousand years old from time and space is not as easy as one believes. The clues must be followed and time is not on their side.

And with someone else out to trip you up at every turn and to try and find new ways to torture and split the five up, things are not always as simple as them seem and power is not something to be toyed with lightly. The trick to having great power is to truly find the balance between good and evil and to know when and where to strike at those that you believe are against you. This is something that perhaps the original five have still yet to learn as they were so very young when they came into their powers and were thrust into a war that forever changed them and their lives, but they were so blinded by so many different things at the time that they missed the greater picture and that is what has lead us to the here and now. If the original five had to be put to the trials even to this day they would most likely fail, perhaps that is why Anubis saw it fit to put five other women in the trials in their place. These five women would not have the same feelings of anger and betrayal as these five did and a fresh pair of eyes sometimes reveal things that others have missed. In theory it all sounds wonderful but in reality how well can that work out?

Five trials all of them with different tasks would it not be easier to have only three? Truth, Justice and then finally bring about Peace, Hope and Faith go along with all three hand in hand considering that Truth and the Hope to find the truth, Faith and Justice because one must have faith that the Justice that they are bringing upon others is the correct course of action and Peace, hope and faith are all among the same things they all must work together if they are to work at all so to prove each one independently is a near impossible task.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

Let the trials begin.

Chapter Two:

It was a normal Saturday morning, the sun was shining and Rush week was beginning. Time to recruit new members into the campus Sororities and Fraternities. In the Delta, Delta, Delta house everyone was getting everything ready for their open house and recruitment party.

This is where four of the five already resided, little did they know that their lives were going to be forever changed with the setting of the sun. Four girls that had been friends and Sorority sisters for a year would be joined by the fifth and final member and once she came everything would be ready. Things  that they never believed possible would be learned, things that they never believed in would be proven to be real, magic and sorcery exists still in the world even if the masses do not believe, while it is nowhere near as strong as it once was it is still there as a part of the world around them, where magic once existed technology had become the magic of the world making things easier and changing the course of everyday life, people had become lazy and complacent if there was ever a time for the sisters to rise again it would be now. The amount of anger and hatred that filled the world was more than anyone could bear. Nature herself would soon begin to rebel as she was being slowly destroyed by man and humanity. If ever there was a time for the need to have Peace it would be in this time and in this place, for man was killing man and for what? Their beliefs and the thoughts that their beliefs were better than everyone else's.

A world torn apart by war and economic struggle was crying out for those that could help stand against it, the people those innocent of these extreme beliefs cried out for someone that would stand for them and protect them in these times. The sisters would bring these things back into the world and perhaps they would find a way to finally bring about balance.

There was a lot of activity around the house as everyone was trying to get everything ready for all the people that would be coming to visit and perhaps join their sorority that day. All the girls were busy decorating and setting up tables of information about their sorority and a video that had been made of past and present members and was redone every year to add the outgoing President and Vice President. They would have different activities as well as food and drinks set up, everything was being done in such a way that it would be a great bonding experience and get together to show anyone that would be coming into the Sorority for the first time how open and welcoming they all were. Each Sorority has its own goals and values and things that it stands for but the biggest thing that they all have in common is the sisterhood that comes along with it. You were not just making friends but sisters for life there were benefits to being in a Sorority because even once you graduated you were still part of that sisterhood for life and if you ever found yourself in need you could always reach out to your fellow sisters. That is what makes Sororities and Fraternities a good thing because no matter what you had a family that was always there and willing to help you all you needed to do was reach out and ask. That is why so many seek to join these establishments each year because they are seeking that need to belong and to forge lifelong friendships. All four of these girls had forged those friendships with each other and others within the sorority and now they had an even bigger family to lean on should they need it.

"Hey, Kat how is everything going in here?" Kaylee says walking into the kitchen after finishing decorating the living room

"Everything is going fine in here. How is everything going out there?" Katrina says

She turns to face Kaylee after pulling out the muffins she had been baking out of the oven, she had been up very early this morning a feeling of restlessness growing rapidly inside her, one that she could not place but was trying very hard to ignore because she knew that she had other things to worry about and perhaps whatever this feeling was would present itself to her later rather than sooner. Something was about to happen and while she didn’t know what it was something was warning her that not everything was going to be the same afterwards if anything was ever the same again.

"Everything is going fine Madame President." Kaylee smirks "Those smell amazing by the way. We are going to win everyone over with your baking. You know if the whole CSI thing doesn't work out you could totally be a baker"

Katrina lost in her own thoughts doesn’t hear Kaylee talking to her the first time she’s too caught up in her own little world wondering what it is that is bugging her so badly. It’s not a test coming up because she knows that she is prepared for that, what could it be and why was it making her so on edge?

“Hey, Earth to Katrina. Are you still with me over there?” Kaylee says watching Katrina walk around the kitchen almost in a trance.

“What? Yeah I am here sorry just got lost in my own thoughts for a moment. I was thinking about what needed to be done next” lying quickly trying not to get her head stuck back on her previous thoughts walking across the kitchen to put the muffins onto a cooling rack “What did you say?”

Kaylee shakes her head wondering what is going through Katrina’s mind that has her so distracted at the moment. It has to be more than just rush week, something bigger much bigger. Even though she had no idea what it was Kaylee knew that when Kat was ready she would tell her what was going on or at least Kaylynn. They always told each other pretty much everything but of course in their own times.

“I said” Kaylee sighs "Everything is going fine Madame President." Kaylee smirks "Those smell amazing by the way. We are going to win everyone over with your baking. You know if the whole CSI thing doesn't work out you could totally be a baker"

"Hmmmm, that is something to think about now isn't it?" Katrina says jokingly thinking that what Kaylee said is actually pretty funny. Her gran had taught her how to bake many years ago, whenever she baked now she would think about those times and how her gran would smile at her and they would joke around. How she missed those times and her gran, baking always brought her back and always left a smile on Katrina’s face.

"Yes, yes it is. Though I think you and Kaylynn will make a good team out there." Kaylee says cleaning up around the kitchen trying to help out where she can figuring she was already done with her previous tasks as everything around the house was already well taken care of and mostly done. Now all that remained was to get the food and the drinks ready for when everyone arrived but there was still plenty of time left for that.

"That we will, if she ever decides what she is going to do with her life." Katrina says knowing that her best friend would do whatever her heart truly desired and go wherever the wind blew her, she truly had a mind of her own and if put to the test would and could rule the world.

"Well whatever she decides to do she will be awesome at it. I know her parents really want her to go to law school and she is on the fence between that and being a cop" Kaylee says eyeing up the muffins

"Don't think I don't see you over there eyeing up those muffins Kaylee" Katrina smirks putting the next tray into the oven "And don't go trying to steal one. Kaylynn will do whatever it is she wants to do and no one is going to stop her. She is after all a force all her own to be reckoned with"

Kaylee laughs "Yes she is but that is what we all love about her." sits in one of the kitchen chairs "And I can't help it they just look so yummy and inviting. They are calling my name"

"Don't make me smack you." Katrina laughs getting the muffin tin ready for the next batch of muffins to go into the oven "You can wait until later like everyone else."

"Well you know someone needs to test them and make sure their not poison." Kaylee smirks trying to look innocent and failing miserably

"Right, you just want to eat one and once you start you won't stop" Katrina says working carefully on filling the tray with batter trying very hard not to make a mess "If you really need something to do you can help me start on the cake I am making"

"Oh my god women you are trying to kill us all with your baking" Kaylee says "Or you're just trying to make us all fat"

"Oh shush you, I am not doing either. I am just... I don't know something is just off" Katrina says looking around as if someone is suddenly going to jump out of nowhere and attack them "Like I feel like something is about to happen and I am not sure it's a good thing"

Kaylee sighs thinking about her dreams the night before and even though she really couldn’t remember them and everything seemed like a giant blur in her mind something didn’t sit well with her at all and she couldn’t figure out why. The fact that Katrina felt the same way only made her think that something was seriously wrong and that didn’t sit any better with her than her own thoughts did "Yeah I know I've been getting that feeling too. I woke up this morning with this weird feeling like everything is about to change."

Kaylynn walks into the kitchen "Who died?" Seeing her friends look like the world just ended only made the feeling in the pit of her stomach twist into greater knots then she was already feeling which made her feel worse.

Kaylee jumps slightly when Kaylynn walks into the room pulled rapidly from her thoughts.

"What are you talking about?" Katrina asks jumping slightly after being pulled out of her thoughts worried about what could be going on if Kaylee felt the sameway that she did only made her feeling worse. It was bad enough that she had the feeling but now Kaylee had it too, what if any of her other friends had it as well. What would that mean and why?

"The two of you look like someone died or something" Kaylynn says looking between her friends who are more like sisters, she didn’t like the way they both jumped when she came into the room almost as if she had scared the life out of them, something about that wasn’t sitting right in her gut.

"We've both been feeling a little off that's all" Kaylee says sighing hoping that Kaylynn doesn’t feel the same way so that this growing fear in her gut doesn’t get any worse than it already is.

"You mean this deep down gut feeling like the world as we know it is about to change forever type feeling?" Kaylynn says leaning against the counter with her arms folded across her chest
almost as if she is trying to hold herself together knowing exactly how her friends feel at the moment.

"That would be the feeling." Katrina says walking over putting the muffin on the stove for when it’s time to change out the pans.

"I take it you have the same feeling then?" Kaylee asks really not liking the fact that they all feel the same way because that can only mean one thing, danger.

"Yeah, I woke up with it." Kaylynn sighs "I had a weird dream last night and for the life of me I can't seem to remember it" trying even harder now to shake that deep down gut wrenching feeling that something really bad is about to happen.

"Me too." Katrina says looking at Kaylynn wondering what this all could mean if it meant anything

"Me three" Kaylee says looking at the floor "But what could it mean?"

"It means your a couple of weirdos" Makayla says walking into the kitchen leaning against the wall looking at her friends after overhearing what they had been talking about.

All three girls jump slightly startled

"We are not weirdos Makayla, you however are another story" Kaylee says slightly annoyed but wondering if perhaps there isn’t some merit to that statement.

"Whatever" Makayla shrugs "However something weird is going on"

"How so?" Katrina asks

"Don't know just a feeling" Makayla says hating to admit that she too has a deep down gut feeling that something is about to come crashing down around them.

Kaylynn sighs "I wonder if anyone else feels the same way."

"And if they don't?" Kaylee asks

"Then we can all be freaks together" Makayla says wondering just how and why they all have the same feeling at the sametime and now it feels even more intense at least to her because they are all in the same room together.

"We are not freaks, maybe it's just nerves." Katrina says trying to shake this deep down world ending feeling she has.

Kaylee sighs "Yeah maybe it is just nerves"

"We can hope. Though I highly doubt that is the case." Kaylynn says

"Well there is nothing to worry about at the moment so let's just get this done. I mean what's the worst that can happen?" Katrina says moving on to her next baking project.

"The world can fall apart." Kaylynn says

"Always the optimist Kaylynn." Kaylee says

"Just saying" Kaylynn says "I still have a few things left to do. I'll see you in a bit for the open house." heads out of the kitchen

Makayla watches Kaylynn go "Well I'll see you both later." walks out of the kitchen

Kaylee shakes her head "Always so cheerful they are"

Katrina half smiles "Too true though they are usually right"

"Great, now they have you on their bandwagon. Cheer up it can't be all that bad. Can it?" Kaylee says getting up to get a drink thinking about everything that is going on right now

Katrina sighs "It's not that I am on their bandwagon it's just I can't shake this feeling."

"Well good or bad we can't worry about it now. Let's just focus on the task at hand and we'll see where the pieces fall." Kaylee says getting a glass from the cabinet

"You're right good or bad I am not sure we can stop whatever is coming. Might as well just try and get on with the here and now" Katrina says measuring out some sugar

"Exactly" Kaylee says going into the refrigerator “Besides I have it on very good authority that there is a certain someone of the male persuasion that has had his eye on you. You know who I am talking about Mr. Tall, dark haired, blue eyed, totally hot and down right yummy. He has totally been checking you out and I heard from a few people that are friends with him that he told them that he has the hots for you.”

"You know sometimes you are just too damn cheerful." Katrina smirks knowing exactly who she is talking about because Kaylee was right she had been distracted slightly well maybe a lot when he was around, but she couldn’t help it he was just so darn handsome “Well then that is very interesting news. But if he really wanted to do anything about it he could always just come and talk to me.”

Kaylee shrugs as she pours her drink "Sometimes I am, I guess I just like to see the good in things rather than the bad. Girl what year are we living in? It’s 2015 women get with the times, you are a big girl put on your damn big girl panties and go and talk to him instead of waiting for him to come to you. Sheesh"

“Well that is one way to put it." Katrina says laughing “But you’re right I should stop waiting for him to come and talk to me and just get over it and go and talk to him. It’s just that I swear every time I see him my brain turns to mush and all my higher brain function ceases to work. And you know what missy there are sometimes you are just so irritatingly right that I want to ring your neck.”

"Thanks for that." Kaylee smiles and puts the juice back in the fridge “And seriously I think most girls higher brain function ceases to work whenever he looks at them. He’s just so pretty and those eyes. Don’t worry I am not going to do anything to get in your way besides I found my own eye candy in one of my classes and oh those green eyes of his, just no words.”

"Welcome. Ohhh, maybe you will have to point him out to me sometime. And I know that you would never try anything behind my back. He is really pretty and so lovely to look at. But seriously get so I can finish up" Katrina says turning her attention back to her baking

Kaylee mock salutes Katrina "Yes, Madam President, right away" turns and walks out of the kitchen with her drink

Katrina just shakes her head smiling as Kaylee goes.

Outside the house someone watches the girls as they talk in the kitchen, but who is she and what is her purpose? Could she be the one that turned Makara and Brehana or did she serve another purpose entirely? As she watches the four she observes that Katrina, Kaylee and Kaylynn like Katara, Kaylanna and Kiya they are all very close and already trust each other like sisters. However while they trust Makayla and they seem close their bond is not as strong as it could be and perhaps that is because the bond between the original five has always been so thin.

These five the last to be tested are more like the original five than many realize. Would that help them win the trials? Or could that perhaps be their downfall once again? If their bond was strong enough how easy would it be to sway them against each other? Whatever the outcome these last trials would be the most interesting of all to see, because these new five have in them the true potential to finish these trials once and for all and to win in the end.

However this dark force against them this sorceress that has always eluded the five even the original five whose part no one is truly sure of. Did she cause Makara and Brehana to turn from their path as they claim she did? Or was her purpose of good intentions that perhaps went astray? Or was she merely an observer and Brehana and Makara truly did do all those things centuries ago of their own accord? Or could this woman be a new player in the game one no one had ever seen before and if so what is her true desire? To see the sisters win or lose in the end?

So many questions that need to be answered. So many riddles to solve and only 30 days in each trial to attempt to answer them all. Perhaps the bar has been set so high that no matter how many centuries pass and how many countless women face the trials there may never be a way to answer them all in time. Perhaps Makara and Brehana were never meant to be saved in the first place and there is an even bigger force at play, one that no mortal or immortal has a chance at stopping.

So many trials over so many centuries and every time no one truly gets any closer to answering all the questions or solving all the riddles mostly all that happens is more questions and more riddles arise. Could it be that even the Gods are against them? Were the trials impossible to start out with? Would anyone ever truly find all the answers? That is the true question that needs to be answered. And only time can answer that question.
