People make quick judgement on appearance

Based on personal empirical experiences, I have seen people make quick judgement based on appearance within a couple seconds in their subconscious minds, either consciously or unconsciously.

Especially in the dating scene, many women choose their potential partner meticulously. Women really make very quick judgement in their subconscious mind; to reassess their potential mate prospect, which could lead to dating and possible long term relationships.

Charles Darwin calls it evolutionary social psychology, although, I would prefer to call it human social psychology. It is a psychological process of women selecting their mate, who has the ability to provide sufficient amount of resources for her.

Furthermore, if a man dresses dapper, women make very quick judgement on his earning potential; such as he could be earning decent income.

Women can sense a disparity between sharp dressed male and poorly dressed male. For instance: a sharp dressed male looks like he pays attention to detail from his style and is probably meticulous in every aspect of his life; whereas, a poorly dressed male would be judged as being lazy and has no ambition. Unfortunately, we live in judgemental world and people make very quick judgement based on your extrinsic appearance.

However, I can tell the difference between extrinsic appearance and internal qualities. Some grown men might put on a suit or tuxedo, then starts to speak in jargon and has limited vocabulary words at his repertoire, inevitably you’re going to feel melancholy; which means he didn’t match your high expectation, based on your quick judgement on his extrinsic appearance.

Very often, people think in their subconscious mind, that every guy that wears a suit: has degree, master degree, good job, very articulate, powerful and intelligent.

Although there are intelligent men, that put on hoodies and trainers; for instance, you might walk down the street, come across a smart guy who is underdressed and without having a conversation with the guy, based on your subconscious mind, he could be imbecilic.

Sharp dressed male is seen as more attractive and appealing

There was a program on BBC: secret of the sexes and on this particular program; it was experimentation, to observe, what women find attractive or not attractive.

First experiment:

However, it started with a guy with glasses, jeans and long sleeve t-shirts; standing in the shop window and the scientist would ask different women similar question, if they find the guy attractive or not. All the responses from women were negative.

Second experiment:

A fashion stylist had to consult the same guy to rearrange his appearance, by changing into suit jacket and white long sleeve shirt. Subsequently, scientist asked females in the street, what they think of the guy, however, the implication was all positive — they found him more attractive.

Power dressing is an aphrodisiac

The word power in the dictionary: it means authority, force, strength

, command and influence.

As you dress with more dapper clothes which is designed for formal setting, you will carry yourself like a leader with a powerful presence.

Power dressing excites opposite sex, which is true; if you have watched many movies, you can see the reaction of females seeing a dapper dressed man; females get really excited to notice a very sharp dressed man. For instance, when I dress dapper, I received more eye contact from the opposite sex; the huge disparity of receiving less eye contact, being under dressed.

Furthermore, movies such as Crazy, Stupid, Love: Ryan Gosling was an epitome of well dapper dressed male, throughout the entire film; he carried himself with supreme confidence and charisma, which made him more irresistible to the opposite sex.

Movies such as Hoodlum, God Father, Carlito’s way rise to power: these movies had actors which conveys an embodiment of dapper dressed man.

Epitome of public figures with style

Con Artist like Victor Lustig was confident and persuasive to sell the Eiffel Tower: pretending to be a prominent person that works in the hierarchy of the government. People were really superstitious by his entire dapper dressed appearance and self confidence, which came from dressing well.

If the members of mafia organizations such as Gambino Family and Genovese Crime family would dress up in T-shirts, jeans and trainers in their everyday life during their prime years, they would be considered as having low status in the society.

Furthermore, Gambino Family and Genovese Crime family would always take advantage of dressing dapper, to gain more respect and reverence; despite engaging in heinous crimes.

Clothing can indicate an individual status in the society, since we always make a quick judgement on external appearance.

I have watched documentaries on mafia organizations and low level gangs. I have noticed a huge difference on how each organization conduct their crimes and how their clothing has a psychological effect on their organizational skills.

Members of mafia organizations are dapper dressed, therefore increasing their social status and respect from the public. Low level gangs are usually under dressed, which means they have low status in the society, so their social status is limited within their propinquity.

Clothes has an impact on our focus, discipline and confidence level. However, being under dressed and being dapper dressed has a huge disparity on your self esteem, posture, body language, focus and discipline.

Effects of being under dressed

When I used to be under dressed all the time such as wearing trainers and jumpers with hoodie —I would feel insecure in different social settings, where guys are usually better dressed; experiencing social anxiety during interaction with the opposite sex.

Effects of being dapper dressed

When I dress elegant and refined, I would feel more confident in any social setting and formal settings.

Feeling like royal king, without crown being placed on top of my head.

Being more confident and charismatic during interaction with the opposite sex.

More motivated to consummate daily task, more focused and goal orientated in every aspect of my life.

Confidence is imperative in every aspect of our life. Furthermore, upgrading your wardrobe can make a huge difference and impact on your confidence level. Being dapper dressed would increase your confidence level, which will make you discover all types of opportunities to explore.
