Introduction

Prologue

Long ago a prophecy was told. It spoke of things long past, dark histories that should never return. It spoke of one to whom the others would gather. And it spoke of his birth. And so it was that the Prophecy was spoken by the great seer Elsa Corona.

“vengeance shall be sought, a nameless horror from our past. Dark shall be the days for he shall return. But a light long thought smothered shall shine forth. This light shall be born, he shall be borne as The Edge of Night. When the seven stars align it shall show him the way to his destiny, a destiny that shall determine the fate of us all. And seven shall heed the call and gather unto him. The journey will begin at the call of Night.”

Prophecy turned to legend, legend to myth, and some myths have been forgotten throughout time. But time has a way of bringing myths back to the present. Now is one of those times.

Chapter 1

Night's Dawning

After the prophecy had drifted into legend and then myth, a great war broke out. A war between the Drakon king, Skrillian, and the antherans of Thelenos, soon the war threatened to consume the whole planet in death, destruction, and decay.

So the Alurai king, king Valkor, and his wife queen Mara used a weapon of great power; The Shard Crystal. The war ended that day. But at a terrible cost. The king and queen disappeared leaving behind their three daughters and one son, Shard castle was turned to ruins, and the lands around it became uninhabitable to this day

Naturally, as was customary, when the oldest daughter came of age she was to become the sovereign over the land of Elmara. Shortly before princess Elma's coronation, she was meeting with the council of Alurai. The Alurai are a race of Antheran's that are a combination of a Pegasus, a Unicorn and a Dragon. The have the elegance of a Pegasus, the purity of a Unicorn, and the magic of Dragons. Elma was listening to the general troubles of the land; a land that was soon to becomes hers to rule she suddenly realized with a sense of apprehension and awe.

She had sat through meetings like this for many years, and had become used to the workings of the land her parents had ruled over for so long, but something was wrong, something she couldn’t put her hoof on.

“Where's Celeste? She blurted out. Everyone looked at her with looks of shock and surprise, and some with looks of disapproval. General Hayzell was about to continue his report, but Elma was not going to go unanswered so she said again “Where is Celeste.” the General looked at her and said “she hasn’t left her tower for a few weeks lady Elma. Now, as I was saying, after your Coronation; princess. I plan to have a new elite guard assembled for your protection. I even have a few volunteers if you'd just give your approval I can start their training immediately.” Elma looked at the General and nodded, holding out her hoof to sign the irritating piece of paper. The meeting went on and Elma signed a few more letters before the meeting ended.

It was late afternoon before Elma had some time to herself. The castle would still be busy late into the night preparing for her coronation the next day, so she decided to go visit Celeste in her tower. She went to the tower, knocked and waited for a response but none came. She entered and found the tower room just as it always was, dimly lit with only a few candles she could make out the few pieces of furniture that Celeste had in her study and room. Elma had always been fascinated by all the scrolls, and charts of constellations and the stars alignments that littered Celeste's desk, floor, and even her bed, but Celeste was nowhere to be seen. And so Elma went on throughout the castle looking for her friend.

Hours later Elma had the idea that Celeste might be in the stargazing tower after all she sometimes visited there. And so she headed to the tower to see if she was there, and sure enough she was. Elma entered the tower and saw Celeste sitting on her haunches staring up at the night stars.

Celeste was ancient, over three thousand years old, and her age was beginning to show. Elma didn't care though, Celeste was her friend and that was that. As Elma approached, Celeste's ear twitched and she said “Wont you come join me Elma? The night stars will be beautiful tonight, and the seven have begun their alignment.” Elma came forward and sat next to Celeste and watched as the sun set and more and more stars came out.

As night fell Elma found herself thinking of her old apprentice Heather Arkangel and how she was doing. Heather was the only other Aluria beside her sisters and Celeste she had ever gotten along with. Probably because she was so dedicated to studying the complexities of magic. Like Heather, Elma loved to study, she was always curious about how things worked and would go to great lengths to find out. The two of them had gotten into trouble more times than Elma cared to count. But that time had passed as Elma was nearing fifty and Heather was only in her early thirties.

“He is born” those three words shook Elma out of her thoughts and back to the present. She didn't recognize the voice, and so she looked around to see who had said it. Then “He is born. the Prophecy of Seven has begun....” still while trying to see where the voice had come from Elma saw Celeste collapse.

Immediately all thoughts of the words and the voice left her mind. She quickly picked her friend up, and carried her on her back down the tower the to the castle infirmary.
