Chapter 1
Its is a cold Christmas eve night. The guards of Arkham Asylum are walking along the cells. They release the inmates, and take them to a large cafeteria room that has been cleared. An inmate comes in with a large Christmas tree, and places it in the middle of the room. The guards bring the inmates inside and they give them boxes of ornaments. The inmates grab the ornaments and began putting them on the tree. As they decorate the tree, they celebrate the holidays by singing Christmas carols. They sing jingle bells as an inmate with pasty white skin walks up. He sings his own version of jingle bells:
"Jingle Bells!
Batman smells!
Robin laid an egg!
The batmobile lost a wheel!
And the joker got away!"
He grabs a pointed ornament from a bearded inmate and puts it atop the tree. Suddenly, the ground begins to shake. Guards run in as the tree begins riding into the air. The pasty white inmate laughs as he rises in the air. He then begins a new song:
"Crashing through the roof,
in a one horse open tree!
Busting out I go,
laughing all the way! HAHAHAHA"
He laughs as the tree speeds off into the distance. The guards look up in disbelief and then they send all the inmates back into their cells. They contact the police commissioner. "The Joker has escaped!", said one of the guards. "He escaped on top of the Christmas tree!", said the other guard. "I'm sure Batman will take care of it.", said Commissioner Gordon, "He always does." The commissioner hangs up the phone, and prepares to call Batman. He heads for the door, but someone comes up to him. "Who are you?", asks Gordon, "You shouldn't be-" The man knocks Gordon out and drags him away. "Commissioner?", asks Harvey Bullock coming into the room, "What the-" The man knocks Bullock out as well. Across town, a news reporter is finishing her report. "The Joker is dangerous, so be careful this holiday!", says Summer Gleeson. The camera stops rolling and she goes into her break room. She enters and comes face to face with a man. The man knocks her out and drags her away. A subtle laughter can be heard in the distance.
Chapter 2
Batman and Robin walk into the batcave. They just saw a news report about Joker's escape. "We need to do a check.", said Batman. "Come on Batman, it's Christmas Eve.", said Robin. "The Joker escaped from arkham Asylum Robin.", said Batman. "Even crooks are spending time with their families tonight Batman.", said Robin. "The Joker has no family.", said Batman. They walk over to the batmobile, where Robin thinks of an idea. "Tell you what. If we go out, and nothing is happening, then we come back here and watch It's a 'Wonderful Life'." "Deal.", says Batman. They ignite the batmobile boosters, and the door opens. They speed out into the city and they park in an alley. They fire their grapple hooks at the building in front of them, and they fly onto the roof. They watch for a while as the Gothamites celebrate down below. Kids are making snow angels, while men and women are singing Christmas carols. "See Batman.", says Robin, "There's nothing here." "There.", says Batman. A man who was holding a gift, was running towards an elderly woman. Batman fires his grappling hook, prepared to stop him but when he lands on the next building, he hears the man say something. "Hey, you dropped this!", says the man. "Thank you dear!", says the woman kissing the man on the cheek. They walk off as Robin joins Batman. "Now can we go home?", he asks. Batman doesn't say a word as he fires his grapple hook into the distance, flying away. "Bah Humbug to you too.", says Robin. He follows Batman, and they return home in the batmobile. "I guess you won.", says Batman. They change out of their clothes, and they head up stairs in an elevator. They go to the theater room, where Dick Grayson grabs the remote. "Come on Bruce, you'll love the movie.", says Dick, "It's about a man who realizes the good he does for the city he lives in. Sound familiar?" He turns on the TV, but the movie is not on. "Some kind of Christmas special.", says Dick. He changes the channel, but the special was on every one. "It's a Wonderful Life will not be shown this year.", says a voice, "But in its place is the following." The Joker steps out of the shadows." Joker here! Greetings Gotham, and Merry Christmas. ", says the Joker, "I hope you're watching Batman! This one's for you."
