Julie Chevalier

Julie Chevalier was born in New Jersey and moved to Sydney in 1965. She is the author of the short story collection Permission to Lie (Spineless Wonders) and the poetry collection Linen Tough as History. Darger: his girls ( both Puncher & Wattmann) won the 2011 Alec Bolton Prize for best unpublished manuscript and was short-listed for the WA Premiers' Poetry Prize in 2013.

She co-edited two anthologies of micro fiction / prose poetry with Linda Godfrey: Small Wonder and Stoned Crows & other Australian Icons. With Bronwyn Mehan, Julie co-edited Cracking the Spine: ten short stories and how they were written (all Spineless Wonders).

Recent work has been published in anthologies and literary journals including Antipodes, Meanjin, Southerly, Cordite, Rabbit, Australian Poetry Journal, and Best Australian Poetry. Julie has MAs from the University of Sydney and the University of Technology, Sydney. She enjoys teaching and mentoring.
