The Technology of Spray Painting and the Different Options to Include Electric Paint Sprayer

Overview

In today’s technology related to spray painting application is basically simple since for the most part, those sprayers are always getting better than they were before. That is an effect brought about by manufacturers that are not limiting the method as they existed rather; they have kept on refining the tools in order to make the best system that no painter can venture without getting one. This includes the sprayer or what they call as spray guns, which can either be an electric paint sprayer or compressor assisted type, the available tips and other related accessories.

What is the conventional sprayer composed of?

Basically a paint sprayer system is comprised of pressurized paint containers, spray gun, compressed air system and flexible tubes that are connecting the components together. When applying the coating material, it follows the basic standard procedure like any other sprayer. The air pressure used in a conventional sprayer is at the ranger of 40-70 psi which is the right level to atomize a liquid stream of paint for painting. Once paint is atomized it becomes easy to apply through the electric paint sprayer or other type of sprayer producing a very good finish. Its Efficiency is as much as 20-50 %. In case there are improper painting set-up, this will reduce the efficiency causing an increase in the amount of paint required for the task while correspondingly it increases the cost too.

There are different sprayers available in the market and below are some of them:

  • Air-assisted airless sprayer – this uses pressurize fluid to atomize and compress air to control the pattern. It sprays medium to high viscous paint for a finish quality.
  • High volume Low pressure or the (HVLP) – producing professional quality finish and best for trim works and touch up.
  • Airless or hydraulic type airless, or hydraulic - this is the electric paint sprayer that is best for small indoor tasks and provides users flexibility and mobility.
  • Paint Spraying Preparation

Regardless of the method of application of paints and coats, they can only be as good as the surfaces they are applied into. So, it means that you cannot produce a very smooth finish in a rough surface. That is the reason why in painting there are preparations made before the actual painting:

  1. like covering the hairline cracks, or filling up the dents in order to achieve the best results
  2. Pressure washing of exterior areas thereby removing the old paint, chips dirt, cobwebs, etc.
  3. Drying of sidings before spraying
  4. Scraping, sanding, priming
  5. Filling of deteriorated areas with acrylic or elastoseal.

Final Take:

A painting job is an effect of the combination of the right paint product, the best spraying method ideal for that particular task and paint, and the knowledge and skills of the painter executed at the ideal condition.
