UNTITLED POEM

Introduction

Entropy and agony cascade over us

In a blanket of inevitability.  Our

Wasted and flaccid bodies wracked

In our pity, the unwashed waste

Of failed days and missed opportunities

Neither one of us really seemed to

Care to wash away.  Languid atrophy

A blissful existence, our reward for

Long moments of ambivalence and

Quiet apathy.  Hard failures that

Caress against success with supple

Skin.  You stare back with those

Dull eyes, listless truly unseeing

Yet knowing that in the end our

Actions bring forth no bounty and

Our energy yields no return.  Under

The smothering blanket we lay.
