Things To Consider Before Choosing Cheap MMA Guards

Before deciding on the best rash guard to settle for, you should check out some qualities. Here are a few qualities to look out for when you want to buy an MMA rash guard.

What Color?

Color is number one on the list before choosing cheap mma rash guards because it is a very important factor you should consider, especially when competing for IBJJF events and tournaments.

There are several common colors of rash guard such as purple, white, black, blue, red, and brown. Your rash guard top should be the same as your belt ranking when you're going for the IBJJF competition, or it should have at least 10% of the same color as your belt rank. This is why the color of your rash guard is very important.

Ranked or not?

Another thing to check out is if your rash guard is ranked or not. You can only use ranked rash guards for completion, and doing otherwise would mean you've gone against their regulations.

Many tournaments also follow the rules laid down by the UAEJJF and IBJJF that support approved and ranked rash guards.

If you're not competing, using a rash guard approved by IBJJF might not be necessary, but some academy might prefer you to have it for training.

How Many is Ideal for You?

The number of rash guards you need usually depends on your personal choice, but the number of times you practice in a week might also make you consider getting more rash guards. Since rash guards are easy to wash and dry, you can start with one and get more as you proceed in training.

Although, using one rash guard for prolonged periods is not advisable as that will shorten its lifespan. So, getting enough to last you for each training in a week might go a long way in prolonging the lifespan.

You can also have one or two rash guards with you wherever you go to enable you to train when on transit.

Is it a Rash Guardor Compression Shirt?

Many people think compression shirts are the same as rash guards, but this is far from the truth. Rash guards and compression shirts are very different, and they aren't created the same way.

Unlike rash guards, compression shirts are not designed for constant friction and contact. Your movements will also be restricted when you're wearing a compression shirt, unlike a rash guard that enables you to walk freely. Compression shirts can also make you very uncomfortable as you will have to keep adjusting the shirt during rolls.

On the other hand, a rash guard is more durable due to the strong stitchings, making it easy to resist pulls and stretching. Before buying a rash guard, ensure it is a rash guard and not a compression shirt that will last for only a few uses.
