I feel inspired to try the outlining method in this article: http://www.writersdigest.com/online-editor/7-steps-to-creating-a-flexible-outline-for-any-story

Also, I got a lot out of hearing Graeme Simsion's approach to 'plotting' and Toni Jordan's approach to 'pantsing' in their recent Garret podcasts: https://thegarretpodcast.com/

Good luck!

Oh I hadn't heard of The Garret Podcast. I'll have to have a listen. ^_^

The idea of "pantsing" unnerves me a bit. Jane Rawson, in her Thursday night book club interview last night, said something like "I can't imagine I'd finish writing a novel if I knew how it was going to end" and I don't think I could do that. Maybe I'm just a control freak?

I've always like the way South Park's writers try and structure their stories. Apparently, they base their stories and character's actions around "therefore" or "but" (rather than "and then this happened"): http://thehustle.co/the-storytelling-secrets-that-netted-matt-stone-and-trey-parker-600-million-dollars

Thinking like that has helped me figure out what I'm doing (or supposed to be doing) while trying to plot out a narrative.
