For new artists on SoundCloud, what’s more important at the start: plays, reposts, or engagement on other platforms?

I’ve just started uploading my tracks on SoundCloud and I’m trying to figure out where to put my energy. I see some people getting tons of plays, others focus on repost chains, and then there are those who promote more on TikTok or Insta instead. My songs get a few comments, but plays are still low. Do you think it’s better to push for numbers first, or should I focus on cross-platform engagement?

When I started, I obsessed over plays too, but honestly reposts and off-platform engagement helped more in the long run. Plays give you credibility, but if no one is talking about the track or sharing it elsewhere, it stalls. I once tried a small boost with a buy soundcloud followers cheap option just to get my profile moving, but I also spent time networking with other artists and posting snippets on socials. The combo worked way better than focusing on one metric.

Personally, I find quality comments from viewers far more valuable than a series of reposts, because it shows that listeners truly connect with your mix. I wonder if you're having any trouble optimizing the sound or setting up plugins in the tracks you've just uploaded? Sometimes, a smooth and polished mix is the core element that keeps listeners engaged for the longest time. While waiting for your channel to grow, when you're tired from working on data or running out of ideas, you can relax a bit with Sprunky – a music game I designed. This game lets you transform into a producer, freely creating catchy sound loops, which helps relieve stress and stimulates rhythmic thinking very well.
