furniture automation
Hi! I recently started looking into electric linear actuators and have come across a huge selection of models—from compact options for furniture automation to powerful industrial devices. But I'm still not entirely sure how to choose the right one for my project. For example, how important is it to consider the load and stroke when selecting an actuator, and how do I determine the optimal voltage—12V, 24V, or 36V? I'm also curious if there's a noticeable difference in reliability and noise levels between worm-gear and screw-type actuators. Please share your experiences if you've encountered this.
I also went through similar doubts when choosing an electric linear actuator https://www.progressiveautomations.com/collections/linear-actuators for my project. After much research and comparison, I settled on models from Progressive Automations—and I'm very pleased. The main thing I realized is that load and stroke length really do matter. If you plan on lifting heavy structures, it's better to choose a powerful actuator with ample force and a metal gearbox. For more precise movements and lighter loads, a compact 12V model is suitable. For example, I have a 24V actuator—it operates reliably, without overheating, and with excellent smoothness. As for noise, screw actuators are indeed quieter than worm gear actuators, especially in household systems. Reliability is also excellent: it's been working flawlessly for over a year now.
