Anyone Else Notice Their VPN Stops Mid-Call on iOS? What’s Going On?
Has anyone else had their VPN just die right in the middle of a call on iOS? It’s been happening to me a lot lately, especially during FaceTime and WhatsApp calls. The VPN reconnects a few seconds later, but the call usually drops or the other person can’t hear me. I’ve already reinstalled the app and even tried a different VPN service, but no luck. Wondering if it’s something with iOS settings or just bad VPN servers.
Yeah, I ran into that too when I was in Shenzhen a few months ago. Turns out, some VPNs don’t handle background traffic very well when iOS switches between Wi-Fi and data. I switched to one that’s optimized for VPNs for iPhone in China and it made a big difference — calls stayed stable even when the signal dropped for a second. Maybe check if your provider supports the IKEv2 protocol, that helped me a ton.
