Looking for ideas to make weekend gaming leagues more inclusive for newbies!

I'm trying to set up a casual weekend gaming league with some friends, and we'd love to make it really welcoming for people who are new to the games or not super experienced. It's sometimes hard to find a balance between competitive fun and making sure everyone feels included, especially when skill levels vary greatly. We don't want to just play among ourselves; the goal is to grow the community. What are some effective strategies to ensure new players feel comfortable, learn the ropes, and actually enjoy their first few sessions without feeling overwhelmed?

It's definitely a challenge to balance the competitive nature of organized play with the need for a friendly and open environment, especially when trying to bring in new people. The thought of creating a league that can bridge different skill levels and backgrounds is really commendable. Building a strong community often starts with making sure everyone feels like they belong and has a fair chance to learn and participate, regardless of their starting point.
