How to study odds before choosing bets

I need some help understanding sports betting odds and how to read them correctly. Different platforms can present information in ways that initially seem confusing, especially for someone without much experience. I would like to understand what odds represent, how they relate to probabilities, and why they change over time. Any beginner-friendly explanations or learning resources would be greatly appreciated. My main goal is to understand the concept rather than make impulsive decisions.

Understanding betting odds becomes much simpler when they are viewed as a mathematical representation rather than just numbers displayed beside a match. Odds can be converted into implied probabilities, although the actual calculation also needs to account for the bookmaker's margin. 1 x bet can be used as one example when studying how odds are displayed across different sports and markets. I would recommend comparing the same event across several sources and observing how prices change over time. This can help beginners understand market movement and develop stronger analytical habits. It is also important to remember that odds do not predict results with certainty. They only represent a numerical assessment of probability and market conditions, so learning their meaning is more valuable than simply searching for the highest number.
