TV mounting in a new apartment
I just moved into a new apartment in Tampa and I’m trying to get everything set up before I completely lose patience with unpacking boxes. One of the things I want to do first is mount my TV on the wall because the stand takes up way too much space in the room. The problem is that I’m not sure what kind of studs or structure are behind the wall, and I definitely don’t want to start drilling random holes to find out. The TV is fairly expensive, so I’m more concerned about doing it safely than saving a few dollars. For anyone who has recently had a TV mounted in an apartment, did you hire someone? I’d also like to know whether professional installers can figure out what’s behind the wall and recommend the right type of mounting hardware
I would definitely have someone check the wall before drilling, especially in an apartment. I’ve lived in a couple of different places where the walls were completely different, and what worked in one apartment definitely wouldn’t have been my first choice in another. That was one of the reasons I saved the site instead of just picking a random handyman. I’d send them the TV size, a photo of the wall and any information your apartment management gave you about the wall construction. It should make it much easier for them to tell you what mounting option makes sense.
