Understanding RTO compliance

RTO compliance - Staying compliant all the time

Ongoing compliance seems like a hard task, but it is easy, you just have to be disciplined to ensure that the RTO has a culture of compliance, it needs to be part of the culture of your team. The best way to ensure this, is to have a clear process on how your team should maintain their compliance, this includes:

  • Collecting feedback from industry and students regularly, at least monthly
  • Reviewing that feedback and then acting on the feedback to ensure that you are addressing your industry and student needs
  • Adjusting your training and assessments in line with the feedback
  • Continuous improvement cycle for ensuring that your policies and processes are reviewed on a regular basis throughout the year
  • Hold regular meetings to discuss and monitor the feedback and action taken to implement change based on that feedback

There are a variety of different ways that you can collect evidence of compliance, these can be through surveys to students and industry, but it can also be through your formal Complaints and Appeals process or an Opportunity for Improvement process for staff, students and employers to provide feedback on how to improve your practices. A “Continuous Improvement Cycle” is a good strategy for scheduling when you will review your policies, procedures and documentation, to ensure that they are relevant, current and put into practice throughout your RTO.

RTO constantans with industry and students

Most RTO’s consult with industry and students regularly, but they do not have a formal process for documenting that feedback, holding regular meetings and taking minutes at those meetings will provide you with a process for formalising your informal consultation and will provide a mechanism for the feedback to be shared with your team. One of the best practices when it comes to compliance is using a RTO consultancy firm to help you with ensuring you are getting the correct RTO advice. RTO consultants make it easy to ensure you have your compliance in order and avoid any ASQA audits. You can contact RTO consultants visiting this website.

How to have a culture of compliance in your Registered Training Organisation

One of the harder things to do within any organisation especially an RTO is getting everyone to understand the important of compliance and audits without the need of having an RTO consultant on side doing RTO desk audits. RTOs at the end of the day are there to teach students not worry about compliance but if your compliance is not in order its just a matter of time before a student or teacher makes a formal compliant with ASQA. This is one of the mains reasons why RTO consultants normally own RTO prior because they have an understanding of the challenges RTOs face on a daily basis
