As the dark grey sedan pulled up behind the news vans the whole neighborhood was out and wondering what had happened. Firemen were finishing up putting away their equipment when two men got out of the dark sedan and walked up towards the crime scene tape. The taller one had dark brown hair and the shorter one had golden brown hair . They pulled the crime scene tape up and walked under it. The brown haired guy walked up to an officer and asked, “What do we got?” 
“Female victim in the bedroom. Firefighters said the fire started in the bedroom on the bed where the victim lied.” The officer explained as they walked upstairs and into the bedroom. The two men put on rubber gloves. On the bed lay a body completely burned and beyond recognition. Another officer looked at the two young men and asked, “You the detectives they sent out?” 
“Yes, I’m Detective Herman and that is my partner Detective Jones.” Detective Herman replied as Detective Jones was examining the body closer. Detective Herman walked over to Detective Jones. 
“Alex, notice how there is no burnt fabric?” Detective Jones says. Alex nods. The officers look at them in confusion. Detective Jones sees their confusion and explains, “There are no fabrics burned onto her body so most likely she wasn’t wearing any.” 
“We won’t know until they do the autopsy.” Alex says as he takes a look around the rest of the room for evidence while Detective Jones continues to examine around the bed. The room was covered in sult so it would be hard to find evidence under it. Detective Jones bends down and sees a metal box under the bed. He drags it out from under the bed and calls Alex over. “What do you got Logan?” Alex asks. The box was padlocked shut so he grabbed an evidence bag and stuffed it in there. As he shut the bag he said, “Same box as the others.” 
“Same MO too. Victim is raped and then burned alive.” Alex says as he takes his gloves off. Logan and Alex walk out of the room and let CSI go in and do their jobs. As they walk out of the house the sun is right there. Logan is wearing sunglasses while Alex is looking anywhere but the sun. They both look around and then to each other, “We taking statements together or separate?” Alex asked. Logan looks around and says while smirking, “Separate, we’ll get done faster. You can take the left.” The News was on the left side and a reporter that is always trying to hit on Alex is over there. He looks at Logan and says, “You’re a dick you know.” They walk their separate ways to possible witnesses.

While Alex is asking one of the neighbors questions he feels like he’s being watched and when he looks around he notices someone in a hoodie who keeps glancing up at him and when they notice that he noticed they turn around, “Excuse me a minute.” Alex said to the neighbor. He walked over towards the hood but before he got to them he was bombarded by reporters. Logan was able to get him out of there as his phone rang. Alex grabbed his phone and asked, “Hey Desi. What’s up?” 

“Oh I was just calling to see what time you are coming home. I’ve got dinner almost ready and also AJ refuses to come out of his room.” Destiny says 
“I’ll probably be home by 8 as long as Logan doesn’t drive like a grandma. And Desi He’s probably just upset about getting in trouble. I'll talk to him when I get home.” Alex says.
“Okay. Well I love you.” Destiny says.
“Love you too.” Alex said before hanging up the phone. Then he looks at Logan and says, “Now comes the dreaded part of the day. Paperwork.”  
“Yeah, let’s go.” Logan says. The two walk towards the car and as they are getting in Logan says, “So what is this you saying I drive like a Grandma?” 
“It’s not an insult. It’s a fact.” Alex says smirkingly.

“Wow, I’m dearly hurt.” Logan said, putting his hand on his chest. 

The way back to the precinct Logan pretended to be a grandma and got a lot of Laughs out of Alex.

“So what’s this I hear about AJ getting into a fight?” Logan asks while parking the car. Alex unbuckles and opens his door as Logan does, “AJ got into a fight at school and now Desi says he won’t leave his room.” 
“Now, that is something I would like to see.” 
“What?” Alex asks as they walk across the street.
“Two 7 year olds fighting, It would be very comical.” Logan answered. 
“Apparently, the kid called AJ a bad word so AJ punched him in his face.” Alex says as they open the doors to the precinct. As they walk past the front desk they wave at the desk sergeant and then Logan says, “What have you been feeding that kid Alex. If he’s punching kids in the face.” 
Alex puts his hands up, “Wasn’t me. Desi says I’m not allowed to teach him how to take a punch until he’s twelve.”
Logan sits at his desk that has papers spread out all over the top. The other side of the desk was Alex’s who had a very neat and organized set up. They finished up their paperwork from the new crime scene that they had to do and then they headed out for the night. Logan lived a few floors down from Alex so they drove together to and from work. As they were pulling into the apartment building parking lot Alex saw the girl he saw from the crime scene again across the street. He thought nothing of it at that moment because he just wanted to get up to the apartment. Parking was awful because this apartment building housed a lot of people and they all had cars. Once they finally found a parking spot they walked onto whatever floor they were on which just happened to be Logan's floor and they went their separate ways. 

Alex got off on his floor, walked down the Hallway to 5J, unlocked the door and walked in. He set his keys in a little bowl on the table that sat next to the door and he walked down the small hallway to the kitchen, “It smells good.” He said as he wrapped his arms around her and set his hands onto her stomach to feel the babies. 
“They’ve been really active today.” Destiny says setting her hands on top of Alex’s. They stand there for a minute waiting to feel a kick but before they do AJ comes out of his room and with an attitude he asks, “Is dinner ready yet?”
Alex and Destiny both look at him, “Lose the tude or you won’t have any dinner.” Destiny says making an empty threat. 
“Okay. Night.” He says as he stomps back to his room.

Destiny starts to walk over there but Alex grabs her shoulder, “Desi I got this.” Alex opened his door and then shut it when he walked in. AJ had just sat down on the fire escape when Alex walked in so Alex joined him on the fire escape. As Alex took a seat next to AJ he asked, “What’s going on buddy?” 
Aj put his hands in his pockets and angrily said, “Nothing. I just want to be alone.” Before Alex spoke again he looked at AJ and then thought about everything going on right now and then he asked, “Are you upset about the babies?” 
“No. Please just leave me alone.” AJ said, he took his hands out of his pockets and crossed his arms. Alex put his hand on AJ’s shoulder and said, “AJ, what is going on with you? Why’d you punch that kid?” AJ looked at the ground trying to hold back his anger. 
“I know you didn’t do it for some reason. So why di-?” Alex asked, but AJ cut him off, “They were talking about you.” 
“What do you mean?” Alex asked 

“They were saying bad things about you and I didn’t like it. When I tried to say something he started making fun of you to my face and I just got mad.” AJ explains. Alex wraps his arm around AJ and says, “Well thank you for sticking up for me but next time just ignore them alright.” 
“Okay.” Aj says

“Come here.” Alex says bringing AJ into a hug. They hug for a few minutes and then Alex says, “Alright. Let’s go inside and eat.” AJ goes in first but before Alex comes in he looks over the edge and sees that same girl looking up at him until he looks at her. Now he was a little worried but before he could even move she was already walking down the block. 

AJ looked back through the window, “Daddy are you coming? Alex looks at AJ and then back to the direction the girl went in. He nods and climbs in through the window. Aj and Alex walk out of the room, Alex has his arm around his son's shoulder as they walk to the dinner table where Destiny has already set the table. Destiny and Alex bring the food out and as they bring out the final plate they give each other a kiss which causes AJ to say, “Gross. We’re about to eat.” Both of them laugh as they sit down. All 3 of them hold hands and Alex looks to AJ and says, “It’s your turn bud.” 
“Ugh. But you’re so much better at it then me dad.” Aj says annoyed. Destiny and Alex both give him a look, AJ sighs and says, “Thank you for this food, This night and this family. Amen.” 
“Amen.” Destiny and Alex say right after him.

Alex started scooping food onto AJ’s plate for him and then Destiny’s plate before he did his. Dinner was uneventful and after they were done, Destiny had AJ take a shower and then while he was getting his pajamas on Alex was finishing up the dishes when Destiny came out and wrapped her arms around him in her nurse scrubs, “I’ve got to get to work.” He sets the final dish on the counter, grabs her hand and kisses it. 

“Dad, can you tuck me in?” AJ asks. Alex and Destiny turn towards him and Alex answers, “I’ll be in, in a minute. Come give your mom a kiss goodbye. AJ ran up to his mom and gave her a hug and a kiss goodbye before running back to his room. Alex walked Destiny to the door and gave her and the babies a Kiss, “What time are you going to be home?” 
“I’m working a double shift so 10.” 
Alex sighs, “Alright so I’ll text my uncle to see if he can watch AJ in the morning since he’s suspended.” 

She nods, “And I’ll pick him up when I get out of work.” She gives him one more kiss before she heads out. Alex walks into AJ’s room and before he tucks him in he texts his uncle so he doesn’t forget. AJ’s bed has a brown frame with a police bedspread, Alex covers him with the blanket and tucks him in tight before kissing him on his forehead. He stands up to walk out and AJ asks, “One story? Please.” 
Alex sighs, “Alright. But just the one. Which one do you want to hear?” AJ sits in bed and thinks for a minute then he says, “First day as a Detective.” Alex smiles and sits on the bed. He starts talking about his first day as a detective but the kid friendly version and before he got a quarter of the way through AJ was fast asleep. Alex stayed in for a minute after he fell asleep just to make sure he was really asleep. Once he knew he was Alex headed into his bedroom next to AJ’s room and he took off his work clothes, threw them in his basket and got into the bed in a tank top and underwear.

In the morning when Alex woke up the first he did was get dressed. When he looked in the mirror on the closet door he was wearing jeans, a black crewneck, his holster, detective shield, and his favorite black jacket. Then before he woke AJ up he brushed his hair and teeth and put on some deodorant. While he was grabbing his gun out of the safe his phone chimed, he walked over as he put his gun in his holster. It was a message from his uncle telling him he couldn’t take AJ because he was closing a sale. Alex stuffed his phone into his pocket as he walked into AJ’s room. He bent down and scrunched AJ’s little brown locks and asked, “You want to see where your dad works?”
