Princess Sherifat Akorede is a Nigerian born United States citizen, who grew up around the world. She has traveled to twelve countries and speaks three languages fluently.

Princess Sherifat started writing in her teenage years. Her works consist of poetry, fiction and short stories. She has written more than 150 poems and several short stories, some of which have been published in newspapers, journals and anthologies. She is currently working on a collection of African folklores for children and two romance novels. Her exposure to the language, culture and lifestyle in the Middle East inspired her novel, Love on the Arabian Sand to be set in the Middle East, Europe and Africa. Another work of Princess Sherifat’s, Tears of a Yoruba Bride, depicts the traditional Yoruba culture colliding with the westernized urban city life in Lagos that threatens to destroy an otherwise happy marriage.

Princess Sherifat received her Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from King Abdul Aziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and a Master’s degree in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago, Illinois. A tireless scholar, she went back to the University of Chicago for another Master’s degree, this time in Social Work. Now, a State of Texas Licensed Master Social Worker, she currently works at a county hospital and healthcare system in the Greater Houston Area. Princess Sherifat resides in the City of Houston with her family.
