 Homelessness. It is a huge issue across the world and we, as humans, need to find ways of preventing this from enhancing. This very realistic story starts in Richmond Highstreet, when Nicholas Smyth finally receives the help he should've gotten way before....

It was a cold and dreary Victorian February in England and, for some reason, winter never faded away. Everything was the same as it was in January ,and December, but one thing wasn't and that was that homelessness seemed immensely popular now.

As the frail leaves pirouetted from the grey sky above, Nicholas sat in dismay, wishing he hadn't ran away.

Nicholas's mother passed away long before he could remember and as for his father, let's just say he sort of disappeared. No one knew what had happened or became of Daniel Smyth,but one thing that was bland and clear was that he had vanished out of thin air.

What was to become of Nicholas?

Well, once his father had died and as  Nicholas's relatives were unknown to him, he was sent to the workhouse.

Minute by minute, hour by hour, Nicholas would want to escape from this dreadful place but he had no strength do so until the master left  his keys on the table where Nicholas worked and so he seized the opportunity to fend for himeself and be free.

At least that's what he thought ....
