I Wrote This For You

Introduction
Dear Readers,
This is a collection of poetry written by yours truly, starting from when I was fourteen-years-old. Although some of it may not be good at all, it's what I thought had the right to be in this book. I hope you enjoy these poems and maybe give them some thought.
March 1, 2016:
I promise these poems get so much better more towards the end. The first half of this book is pretty bad, but it certainly gets better.
September 18, 2018:
Currently in a Poetry Creative Writing class, so I may add more poetry in the next couple of months than I usually would in the span of a semester.
March 30, 2019:
Forgot to update this. Oops. My poetry class went well and I have definitely shared all but one of those poems here. (That one I haven't shared is formatted in such a way that is difficult for tablo.)
At the beginning of the year, I decided I was going to start journaling again. At the end of my first entry of 2019 I wrote a poem, and so every entry after that I decided to write a piece of poetry. Some are long, some are short. If it's not obvious, I took a good month and a half long break from journaling and poetry. I wish I had continued to write, but I was just so stressed out from pretty much everything going on in my life and just didn't have time. I do hope to continue to write from here on out though.
Much Love,
Colleen Durnin

Letter To Everyone
To the boys I see walking down the street.
To the girls I see, together in their little clique.
To the friends I have, that don’t see the pain behind my eyes.
To the family that would surely break down if I were to die.
These are the people that we see each day,
The people that still go their own way.
If only they would listen and watch,
Then they’d surely turn their awareness up a notch.
The day I die,
Oh, the day I lie.
There on my bed,
Voices around me filled with dread.
They didn’t pay enough attention,
And so they didn’t have enough information.
But now I am dead,
May that fill their head.
They can wallow in their sorrow,
But they won’t see me tomorrow.
To The Death!
We're all going down,
But not without a fight,
We're no where to be found,
We've turned off all the lights.
In this darkness I'm hiding,
Hiding from you...
In this darkness I'm smiling,
Smiling 'cause you dont know who...
Who's gonna win this war?
We're fighting to the death!
No one is sure,
Who's going to die first.
This darkness,
Is lurking.
This painlessness,
Is hurting.
Who started this war?
We don't know how...
How can you be sure?
'Cause we are winning now.
