prologue

"Death" this is the word that came to a young boys mind, as he sat on a chair looking out the window waiting for the sun to come out. All he could do was listen to all the gruesome things on the news concerning the New World Order promised by Adolf Hitler, his mother and father sat on the couch listening to his words as though he were some prophet. The boy turned to his parents with a look of confusion and asked:

"Father, why do we hate?"

His father looked up gave him a smile and replied

“Our hate binds us together the Fuhrer promises to bring back the power we once had. A time before there were perfect things diamond absolutes. A time before the wretched Non-Germanic rats mixed raced with us pure bloods and created abominations. The Fuhrer promises to destroy those filthy pigs and bring back power to our once great race”

"But Father what have they done to us we should do such horrible things?"

"You will understand when you are older Gustave, you are merely a twelve year old boy and have much confusion in your mind. Now stop asking these foolish questions and listen to our leader"

As the boy sat and listened he couldn't help but feel unease in his mind. At the end of the speech everyone stood up from their seats, raised their arms and yelled  "Hail Hitler" they lowered their arms and kneeled in a moment of silence. Gustave has never seen his parents act in this manner before he knelt on his knees in confusion he only did this for it was what his parents were doing. They knelt for ten minutes and got back up again, Gustave did not know what was happening, he asked his parents "Why where you acting in such a strange manner, isn't Hitler a man like all of us"

His Father and Mother looked at each other with a stern somewhat depressing look on their face. They muttered a few words and then there was silence. Gustave's father looked at him and said "Gustave, yes our leader is a man like all of us he is a cultured gentleman beloved by children and animals. He also had a very harsh childhood and he wants to bring peace to our country. And I have to say he is the best Chancellor we have ever had in the history of our country"

Gustave looked at his Father and asked "why has the Act given him plenary powers Father"

"That Gustave, I do not know but..."

"Father"

"Yes, son"

Gustave ran and hugged his father so tight they fell on the couch they laughed.

Gustave looked up at his father and said

"we're friends right

his father smiled and replied "right and we will always be together no matter how far apart we are"

Gustave smiled at his Dad, his father reached into his pocket to get something, it was a miniature Victorian music box. He looked at his son.

"Gustave"

"Yes, Father"

"This belonged to my grandfather, he fought in the First Schleswig War"

"What was that" asked Gustave with a smile his Father looked at him and said.

"It was a conflict in southern Denmark and northern Germany rooted in the Schleswig-Holstein Question, contesting the issue of who should control the Duchies of Sand Holstien. The war, lasted for three years. your Grandfather was a great man brave wise and would do anything to help his country. When I was younger he would wind up the music box and sing to me.

"Angels with painted wings in skies of amber

someone sings a soft light song in the month

September dark is cold light is warm and we

will always remember I will always stay with

you in the next life remember"

Gustave stared at the music box he was filled with great joy. His father put his hands on his face and handed him the music box.

"Son, if something was to happen to me remember this song and we will always be together.

Gustave looked up at his father

"Dad...."

suddenly there was a loud knock on the door

"i'll get it" said his mother she kissed her husband and wen't to open th'e door.

When she opened the door to her suprise were two Nazi Soldiers

She raised her arm and said "Hail Hitler"

the Nazi soldiers repeated

"We are here for Heimrich Schneider"

Gustave' father got up and hailed Hitler the Nazi Soldiers repeated and said "Heimrich Shneider, Husband of Ursula Shneider and Father of Gustave Shneider, we have come to inform you that you have been called to serve in our military and help us invade the country of Poland, your work has gained much favor in the eyes of the Fuhrer, you were a highly favored soldier during the Big War. The Fuhrer has also invited you to have dinner with him in his quarters to discuss matters" Heimrich bowed with respect and answered "I would be honored when do I leave"

"Tomorrow 5:00 AM, we expect to see you, a wagon will come and pick you up and bring you to Berlin to meet the Fuhrer from there you will be brought up to base to be General of the Wehrmacht Navy."

"Yes Sir"

The soldiers raised their hands to Hail Hitler again, Heimrich repeated they then left.

Gustave not understanding what was going on came to his father and asked in puzzlement “Father, what just happened?”

his father knelt down and put his hand on Gustave's face.

“Gustave you won't be seeing me for a long time for I have recieved a message from my Fuhrer and I must leave.”

Gustave began to cry

“where are you going”

“do not cry my son I will come back but can you promise me something”

“yes Father”

“Protect your mother for me she is going to need you"

"I love you Father

“I love you too son”

Heimrich kissed Gustave on the head

“now go to bed son”

“yes Father” said Gustave he went up to his room and drifted off into the night thinking of his fathers words. The next day a tall wagon parked by Gustave's home two tall men wearing Nazi Uniforms came and knocked on their door. Heimrich walked into his son's room he sat on his bed with tears in his eyes. Heimrich puts a medal on his side table. He takes a look at his son one last time and kisses his head. “Farewell my son I will see you again I promise” Heimrich walks out the door leaving his son alone it is just him and his Mother now. The next morning Gustave would awake on a fine sunny day just to see the medal on his side table. This is where our story begins how a boy grown into a Nazi family would learn to grow and become a man.

The boy

April 15, 1941, It has been a whole of 4 Years the Nazis Military have invaded the country of Greece, and the future is clouded in darkness. As a sixteen year old Gustave walks to school he has a sour feeling in his stomach as if someone died. He is wearing the badge his father gave him all those years ago. He walks to the building being greeted by a Nazi Soldier telling him to say the salute. Now Gustave was a very sensitive boy and suffered from severe depression due to the fact that his father was overseas and his Mother has a serious drug addiction. He walks into the school fearing whether he will make it home at the end of the day. Nazi soldiers watched students in the halls in the classroom, in the bathrooms and the gym. The Nazi's had eyes everywhere, making sure that everyone obeys the Nazi Order. Whoever disobeys the Nazi Order would be subject to a severe penalty. Everyone in the school had to dress a certain way and act a certain way if they did not do so they would be thrown in the torture chamber or incarcerated. In the morning Gustave walked into his classroom every student was as still as a brick staring straight forward. Gustave looked around the classroom, he was shaking and he was slouching. A Nazi soldier hit Gustave off the chair with his gun. He stared down at him his foot on his neck. He could feel the life slowly coming out of him.

“How dare you disobey the Nazi Order and walking in without saying the salute. Say it now or I will kill you. the soldier said he took his foot off his neck and pointed gunpoint at his head. Gustave took a nice breath ”Hail….Hitler"

The Nazi soldier smirked and move the gun from his head and stared at the classroom nobody looked at what was happening.  The soldier looked back at Gustave his back was aching and his head was bleeding the Nazi soldier smirked.

“GET BACK IN THE CHAIR NOW!!" the soldier yelled

Gustave looked up at him and crawled to his chair the soldier walked to another student wearing a Nazi badge.

“Do the pledge” he said to the student he walked to the front of the class and ordered everyone to raise their right hand. The whole class obeyed and stood up to do the pledge.

"I swear I will observe the law conscientiously fulfill my duties,

at home, at school, be faithful and obedient and pledge absolute allegiance till death to the leader of the Nazi Empire Adolf Hitler"

After finishing they sat in their seats and began the lesson. The schools were an atrocious nightmare, every day students would come to school in fear they would never come home. They who committed a minor offense to The Nazi Empire would be thrown in the torture chamber where they would be greeted by a Nazi soldier where they would be secured to a rope and made to fall from a height almost to the ground before being stopped with an abrupt jerk typically resulting in dislocated shoulders which would cause permanent visible damage to the victim. Those who commit a serious offense would be incarcerated and thrown into labor camps not to be confused with concentration camps for the concentration camps were much worse and they had a different purpose which was to execute the Jewish people who Adolf Hitler saw as dirty rats who had to be executed. The labor camps on the other hand were built for those who dishonored or were against Hitlers ideology. The morning news was filled and polluted with Nazi propaganda, Gustave could bare to listen to the News spoken on the radio. After watching the students did the salute and sat back in their chairs. Every school day was rough for Gustave at the end of the day they would salute Hitler one last time before leaving the building. On the way home Gustave passed by a woman about Gustave's age holding a sign saying “The End is Nigh before long two Nazis would come and arrest her. She screamed in utter pain

“TO HELL WITH YOU MONSTERS, WHEN YOU LOSE, THE     WHOLE WORLD WILL BE WATCHING. YOU KILLED MY FATHER, MY MOTHER. MY GOD WHO SENT MY PEOPLE FROM THE  LAND OF EGYPT WILL BE BY ON MY PEOPLES SIDE. "

The Nazi hits her in the stomach with his gun and again on her face she spat blood at the soldiers face

“WHY YOU LITTLE RAT, YOU FILTHY JEWISH SCUM” the Nazi hit her one last time with his gun in the shoulder dislocating it. He grabs her by the face and takes a knife from his pocket holding it by her face menacingly.

“We are going to take you to our camp, where you will sleep on the dirty floor and eat  nothing but scraps.” He takes a knife out of his pocket lightly touching her face with it “Then in 5 months we will take you to the gas room, where you will die so painfully and slowly”

“Go to hell.” the girl says looking at the soldier with a disgusted face. The soldier hit her again, and took her away. Gustave was staring from the distance wishing he could've done something to help her yet he knew that if he intervened it would put the life of him and his mother in danger so he walked home to his mother. Gustave walked into his home to see his mother talking to two men in uniforms. His mother was in tears she was drinking wine with eighteen empty bottles of pills on the side of her table.

“Mother what  is wrong” asked Gustave looking confused, the two men walked up to him.

“Boy is it not disrespectful to walk in here with your poor filthy face without saluting” said the men with anger in there eyes like that of a lion. Gustave saluted the name of Hitler so he wouldn't get in trouble with those of higher authority.

“good boy” said the man smiling

“Where is my Father is he here”

The man looked at him with a stern face as he handed Gustave a letter with blood on it.

“No, please no"

“He fought valiantly in our recent invasion of Greece he was ambushed by a member of the Greek army he wrote this letter to you before he passed”

Gustave's Father used to write letters to his son every day. Now Gustave would realize he would never receive them ever again. The man handed him an envelope covered in blood. Gustave opened it with a depressed look on his face. The writing was very formal and was written rather neatly and it said:

My Dearest Son                                            If you’re reading this, I’m dead. I’m sorry. I knew I was going to die.

I didn’t want to tell you what was going to happen, I didn’t want to see you crying. Well, it looks like I’ve made it. I think that a man who’s about to die has the right to act a little bit selfish. I have so much to say, and yet a big part of me knows that you must discover your own way much like I did. With little guidance, other than my soul yearning to fulfill itself through

an examination of what it means to be an

authentic man and to live my life to its fullest.

To the extent that this letter can serve to plant a

few seeds in the soil of your fertile mind, then I am

grateful to have the opportunity to share with you

what I consider to be wisdom.

Though I will not live

to watch you grow and see the man you have become I

think often of the legacy I leave for you. I wonder how memory will color me in your eyes. If you will look back at the lessons I

tried to impart and find value in them or if you will throw

them all aside and see them as meaningless rubbish held

by a man who had no real idea about the world. Gustave even though I have not been here to read you stories like we used too, or play Futball like we used too, and even though I may be deceased when you get this letter,  just know that I love you Gustave not a day goes by when I don't miss you. In the event of my death I have given you a journal containing my posthumous writings to you I have written these to give you guidance and peace in life and for you to always have a peace of me in your heart. I love you more than you could ever know my son, and thus I leave you my final word.

 Love from your Father

Heimrich

Gustave closed the letter with tears in his eyes and placed it back in it's envelope. He looked up at the two men he forced a smile.

“Thank you gentlemen this means a great deal to me” he saluted the Fuhrer and as the gentlemen walked out Gustave would walk to his Mother who was lying on the couch drunken with Bärenjäger honey and tea liquer. Gustave sat at his mother's side and tucked her in he through away the pills and the bottle of Bärenjäger and through them in the dumpster outside. He walked to his door step and took the medal his father gave him before he left while Gustave was in his sleep.

A twelve year old Gustave wakes up he looks at his clock and sees that it is 11:35AM he opens the curtains to see the outdoors. The sun came shining through his room and then  he noticed a golden medal with a German Crest emblem on it. He would sit on his bed looking at it for hours. A tear trickled down his eye, his mother knocks on the door.

“Gustave, Breakfast” she opens the door her face is red and wet as if she was about to pass out. Gustave looks up at her and says with a croak “He's gone is he?” His mother walked to Gustave stroking his blonde shaggy hair and then she hugged her son with a tight squeeze “He is” she says crying, Gustave and his Mom began sobbing with sorrow and grief. Time went on and there was nothing but sadness in the household, Gustave's Mother Ursula fell into a depression to the point where she lost her job and she was unable to pay the bills. Gustave would do everything around the house and took on the role of husband because there wasn't one in the house. Gustave did everything he could to help his mother. She went to the bar every day and became addicted and at times she would spend all her time pretending her husband was there  and when she came back to the realize that he wasn't she would cry for hours. Gustave payed the bills while taking care of his mother whos depression has led her to twenty-eight hospitalizations and has led her to becoming a drug abuser. She would take them simultaneously. Life felt at it's lowest for Gustave and as the Reich began to grow in  power things only got worse.

Gustave stared at the medal clenching it in his fist with a tight grasp he looks up to the sky and sees a war plane flying over his head. He stares back down at the medal remembering the song his Father sang to him before his departure. Gustave took a deep breath and sang the words of the song.

"Angels with painted wings in skies of amber

someone sings a soft light song in the month

September dark is cold light is warm and we

will always remember I will always stay with

you in the next life remember"

Gustave got up and walked into the house just to see his mother in the kitchen pointing his Fathers pistol from the first war at her own head. Gustave stares at her with fear and worry in his eyes.

“MOTHER WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!" Gustave screamed his heart beating so fast like a airplane. His mother looks at him with tears in her eyes she barely even acknowledges Gustave is there she is just muttering stuff like a drunk crazy person.

“He saved me… War…Brazil…Germany…Death is what matters most… Life is cruel…My Dearest Heimrich gone”

Gustave stares at her “Is this what he would want you to do blow your brains out. Mom please it's me it's GUSTAVE”

He looks at his mother with tears in his eyes pleading for his mother to drop the gun. His mother doesn't listen, his mother begins to put her finger on the trigger until Gustave jumps on top of her the gun shoots the ceiling knocking down the chandelier. His mother struggles as if he was hurting her.

“Who are you let go, let me see Heimrich”

Gustave grabs her face and looks at her in the eyes.

“Mom it's me it's Gustave please remember me.”

His Mom looks at him then she finally regains her sanity and begins to sob. She hugs her son with the tightest squeeze and then she cries:   “Oh Gustave I'm sorry" Gustave comforts his mother and squeezes her with the tightest most loving squeeze a son could give to his mother. German soldiers storm into the house wondering what the sound was. They walked in to see Gustave still holding his mother, she looks at her son. Gustave begins to cry.

“NO MOM NO THEY CAN'T TAKE YOU AWAY, THEY'LL BRING YOU TO A MENTAL INSTITUTION. THEY'LL KILL YOU!!!" The soldier begin to put there arms on her to take her away, his mother looks at her son one last time,

“This is for the best Gustave”

As they walk out the door Gustave is sitting on the kitchen floor crying for he has lost his father and now his mother both whom he will never see again. He feels as though his life is falling apart, not knowing how to move on with his life. He walks u to his room shutting the door to see the picture of him and his parents, he knocked it over in a fit of rage he drops on to his bed. Gustave lies in bed looking at the ceiling. Feeling like life is spiraling feeling fucked up and worn out, He begins to sob.

“God I don't want to waste my life in here, life is spiraling and my shoulders weigh more than I can take. I don't want to let my sorrow define who I am. I don't know if you can hear me everything feels so dark and gloomy. God save all of us.”

Gustave lies on his side crying himself to sleep, worrying what the next day holds for him in the hell he is living.

Gustave was in a dining room with his family in his childhood home, everyone was talking and laughing his mother was holding his hand and smiling at him. Gustave heard a loud noise that sounded like an earthquake the whole house shook. He got out of his seat and looked at the window across from him and everything was red, with something in the distance falling. It landed, and this wave of burning heat washed over him and his family. It was the most intense feeling compared to the usually dull sensory feelings. Gustave's parents got up and grabbed Gustaves hand and they ran into a sort of bomb shelter in the basement, Gustave was breathing and panting then all of a sudden he was alone, his parents gone, his life as he knew it before gone. Gustave walked out of the shelter and saw his house and his town in ruins. In the rubble layed a man with dark skin and a scruffy beard. Gustave ran to him and pulled his body from the rubble. The man stared at him with tears in his eyes, he grabbed Gustaves shirt and looked at Gustave with a smear and said: “You let your family die, it's all your fault, you let this happen” the man's eyes turned black and green and black veins began to grow on his body, Gustave tried to pull himself free but the man was holding on to him so tightly he felt as though his eyes were gonna bulge out. Gustave screamed “LET ME GO” foam came out of the man's mouth and his teeth turned sharp and appeared as though he was going to bite Gustave like a vampire bites his prey. Gustave kept trying to pull away but this time the man now a monstrous creature like from a horror film grabbed his neck and squeezed it so tightly. Gustave felt the life ebbing from him. Gustave was crying saying “it's…not…my…fault”

Gustave awoke with a startle he looked at his clock it was 4:oo in the morning he began to cry and said under his breath with his hands on his face “it's not my fault, it's not my fault” though deep down he truly believed it was his fault and that he was the reason his parents were both gone his father was dead and his mother was taken to a mental institution were she would be gassed to death. Gustave walked out of bed and got ready to start his day. He opened the mail and found a letter from the The Fuhrer himself. Gustave stared at it for a second and then ran into the house he opened the letter.

Dear Gustave L. Schneider

The Fuhrer sends you his deepest condolences over the death of your father Heimrich Schneider, who fought valiantly in our successful invasion of Greece. We ask you to come and join  us on the 20th of April, Sunday 9:00PM  to attend with us. Wear Nazi uniform with handkerchief, with  neat hair combed to the side. We do wish you to come and we send you our gratitude

Hail Hitler

Gustave stared at the letter and hung it to his wall he cooked up a delicious Senfeier, he went upstairs and cleared his room of rubbish and glasses he left in his room, and got on his uniform. Gustave walked to school as he would on a normal day. As Gustave reached the front of the building he was stopped by a soldier with a inverted swastika on his lapel, he stared down at Gustave with a stern and intimidating face, Gustave finally realized that this was the same guy that was in his class who beat him up the other day. He tried to go inside the building he was blocked by the man. Gustave looked up at him and said: “Look sir I have been through absolute hell for the past few days and I don't need you getting in my__"

Before he could finish his sentence the man pushed him on the ground and dragged Gustave by his shirt into the building and into the principals office. The principal looked up and smiled and said in a calm voice:

“That's enough Werner let him go, I will deal with him myself”

Werner looked down at Gustave and grunted and looked up at the principal.

“Listen Mr. Wagner this boy has been an absolute pain in my ass for the past for the past week, he disobeys the rules, doesn't act as expected and his uniform is untidy. He is a disgrace to the German Empire and might as well be in  a concentration camp with those rats”

Mr. Wagner's proud grandpa like face changed into a dark serious face.

“Werner drop him I will not ask you again, and if you don't stop I will report you to the authorities and they will handle you.”

Werner grunted and dropped Gustave and then he stormed out of the office in a fit of anger. The principal became calm once again, and then smiled.

“My boy sit and let us speak”

“Yes sir” said Gustave getting up on his feet and sat in the red velvet chair in front of the principals desk. Mr. Wagner looked at him and said in a nice calm voice: “My boy would you like some Fruchtee (Which is German for Fruit Tea) you seem cold it will warm you up."

“Yes sir I would very much like that.”

Mr. Wagner poured Gustave a mug and served it to him, Gustave breathed in the steam coming from his beverage.

“My boy do you know who I serve and what my purpose here is as a principal of this school?”

Gustave looked up at Mr. Wagner as he takes a sip of his tea.

“You serve the Fuhrer sir and your purpose here as principal is to keep order in this school and make sure everyone obeys the Reich”

Mr. Wagner smiled at him.

“Smart boy I like you, and yes I do and you put that very nicely and do you understand that those who attack The German Reich while ignoring the rampant pollution of Jews only want to punish The German Reich, and I will not stand for it.”

“Yes sir I understand and I acknowledge how deeply disrespectful I was and how horrible I have been if there is any way that I can make things better___”

“No Gustave that will not be necessary I know how painful it must be for you to go through all of this and I heard the news about your parents and I send you my condolences your father was a hero and your mother was insane, and for that you will be receiving no punishment."

“Really!!”

“Yes my boy you deserve it and I hope you can go about your day I am very busy this fine morning. Don't be down Gustave things will get better I promise.”

Mr. Wagner got out of his chair and walked out the door Gustave sat in his chair and finished up his tea and walked out the door smiling and feeling as though everything will be alright. On April 19th the day before Hitlers birthday Gustave woke up from a long nap and prepared himself for his journey to Berlin Germany's capital. He put on his fathers uniform, and packed his bags, combed his hair to the side and brought with him his music box and badge given to him by his father. He walked out the door and headed for the train station. He nibbled on a biscuit then said a prayer in German and took out his Nazi Bible a book rewritten by Hitler to nazify the church and it's teachings. Gustave read through the commandments.

"Honor God and believe in him wholeheartedly.

Seek out the peace of God.

Avoid all hypocrisy.

Holy is your health and life!

Holy is your well being and honor!

Holy is your truth and fidelity!

Honor your father and mother – your children are your aid and your example.

Keep the blood pure and your honor holy!

Maintain and multiply the heritage of your forefathers.

Always be ready to help and to forgive.

Honor your Fuehrer and master!

Joyously serve the people with work and sacrifice.

That is what God wants from us!"

The eradication of Jewish words, including Hallelujah, Jehovah and even Jerusalem – it was instead termed the ’ the eternal city of God.’  After the Nazi Regime grew Hitler sought to burn all Hebrew Bibles and replace them with his version of the Holy Bible so that no one will turn against him. A woman  walked to Gustave wearing a dress with her hair pulled back.

“Ticket”

Gustave took his train ticket from his pocket and handed it to the woman she took it and smiled.

“Thank you enjoy the ride and please do sleep it is a 4 hour ride. May I get you anything, we have Biscuits, Strudels, Tea, and our special for today is Black Forest gateau."

“Thank you but I think I am all settled for now but I would like a menu if I want something later on.”

The woman smiled and walked away, Gustave closed his eyes picturing himself by the beach laughing. He slowly doses off to sleep with a tear trickling down his cheek.

Gustave wakes up hearing the sound of waves he get's up and sees a figure in the distance dressed in white the purest white he ever saw. He slowly walks to the figure who turns his head to him and smiles. Gustave immediately recognizes him

“Father?”

The man begins to laugh and gives Gustave the most embracing hug. Gustave looks around and faces his father.

“Where am I?”

Heimrich smiles at his son and turns back to the horizon.

“This is where me and you're mother met, and soon I will see her again”

Gustave stands beside his father staring at the horizon with a tear trickling down his eye.

“This is a dream is it.”

“What do you think."

Heimrich looks at his son and his smile turns into a calm straight face.

“It's something, isn't it? me and you're Mother were forbidden to see each other I was a wealthy man she was a lower class woman so we came to the ocean and met up with each other, we began to fall in love regardless of what our parents said, we fled to the country and then we had you, when I first laid eyes on you I knew that you would grow up to do extraordinary things"

Gustave begins to sob he gives his Dad a hug.

“I miss you Father, I feel lost and I can't do this by myself. I'm not as strong as you."

Heimrich looks at his son.

“Gustave you are the strongest young man I have ever known and I am so very proud of you"

Heimrich opens the music box and it begins to play, Gustave and his father sing their song together.

"Angels with painted wings in skies of amber

someone sings a soft light song in the month

September dark is cold light is warm and we

will always remember I will always stay with

you in the next life remember"

Heimrich looks at his son he smiles with a tear in his eye, he reaches out and hugs his son.

“Never forget son I will never leave you and we will meet again just don't lose faith"

Gustave looks at his Dad crying.

“I love you Dad”

“You too son goodbye until we meet again in the next life”

Gustave awakes from his sleep to hear the train come to a stop.

“We have reached our destination, welcome to Berlin the capital of the country the fuhrer will be arriving today from Berghof to greet all of his loyalists"

He walks off the train to see a long black Mercedes-Benz 770 two uniformed men got out of the car and walked up to him.

“Gustave L. Schneider the Fuhrer would like to speak to you”

This was it the beginning of a brand new day.

the girl

April 19, 1941, Nazi concentration camps served three main purposes: To incarcerate people whom the Nazi regime perceived to be a security threat during the war. A young woman walked through the gates being held by a Nazi soldier holding her with a chain around her neck he throws her into a prison. The soldiers were laughing one spat at her, he walked into the cell and took out something that looked like a whip and began hitting her with the hardest hit possible. She screamed in agony. They walk out of the cell and shut the door.

“Dirty Jew”

The girl lay on the ground and curled into a ball thinking about her family now gone, all alone and now she will die alone.

January 18, 1937, a girl is sleeping in a warm cottage in the outskirts of Germany, a woman runs into the girls room.

“Esther awake those beasts, they're here”

“What Eema what is happening”

Her mother looks at Esther with fear in her eyes

“They are coming for us come quickly and pack your things and we must flee”

Esther grabs her backpack and grabs as many things as she can, she grabs a pistol her father gave to her in emergencies as well, as her Torah which she dearly treasured and ran to her mother and father who finished packing everything. They run out into the woods they hear running and see flashlights, “Quick hide”

They run into a cave Esther shuts her eyes saying a quick prayer to the God of Israel asking to give her strength.

Esthers father walks up to her.

“Esther everything will be ok we'll be ok”

“Abba will this running ever end.”

“I don't know my Bat, one day"

Esther's father here's a noise and turns back to Esther.

“stay here, promise me”

“Yes Abba”

Esther's Father loaded his gun and walked out of the cave, suddenly a shot rang out from the woods and then another, Esther heard a scream from outside. five men slowly walked into the cave at gun point, Esthers mom cradled Esther in her arms

“everything will be ok Esther we will get through this” Esthers Mom whispered.

Suddenly one of the soldiers past their way he stared at them, they gasped

One of the soldiers called to him

“You see anything?”

The soldier calls “No the coast is clear”

He nods to Esther and her Mother and walked past them as though he had never saw them.

A man walks into Esthers cell looking at her with a smile, she is laying on the ground curled in a ball.

“Number 112334”

She looks up at him with disgust

“My name is Esther, you fucking communist the tattoo you imprinted on my arm can't change any of that”

He stares down at her with a smirk

“If that is how it is very well, Guards come in hear and teach this nasty rat a lesson"

Two guards walk in and take out their whips, Esther spits at their feet.

January 19, 1937, 12:00am, Esther and her mom are still huddled in the cage cuddling with her, Esther's mom sees a shadow of a man walking up to them he crawls into the hiding spot where Esther and her mom are hiding, he takes off his helmet and puts his gun to his side, he smiles at Esther and her mother, Esther still feels fear at the fact that a Nazi saved her and was expecting the worst to happen, but something about his smile was relieving, he took out his hand holding a doll. Esther's mother hesitates but something is different about this man, he was unlike the other men who killed her husband he was calm and gentle. Esther gets out of her mothers arms and takes the doll and sits at the man's side. He smiles at her and back at her mom, she smiles back.

“It's ok they're gone now, they let me stay and patrol the area so you are safe, I am fleeing to Poland and unless you want to get killed I suggest you come with me. They will be back by tomorrow morning” says the man, he grabs his helmet and his gun and walks out the cave, Esther and her Mother crawl out after him and begin their journey to Poland

Esther wakes up on the floor of her cell, she crawled on too her bunk and began to cry, she feels defenseless like her time on earth is about to end, she is scared and alone, trapped in a facility where she may never get out alive. Two Nazi Guards walks into her cell “Wake up it's time for the morning roll call” Esther jumps up on her feet and walks out of her cell, she stared at the clock it is 4:34AM, she walks up to the door nine other people waiting at the gate, two men walk up to the group and open the gate to lead them outside to a large square for the morning roll call,  Esther spots a man being beaten by a guard for slouching, upon seeing this Esther stood up as straight as she could fearing what would happen to her if she did the same. The loudspeaker yells out with the command: “Caps off! Eyes right!” The duty officer then gives the Hitler salute as he reports the number of prisoners in the camp as a whole to the camp commandant or his deputy. At the command “caps off” all the inmates including Esther snatch off their caps off of their heads instantly and a swishing noise made by ten thousand hurried hand movements is heard across the whole square. After the report came the order, “Caps on!” The rows of prisoners dissolve in a great commotion, all of them scurrying, like ants in an anthill, to their assigned tasks. Esther just stands in the crowd, looking down at the ground. She is approached by a guard

“Number 112334, shouldn't you be somewhere.” says the guard putting his hand on Esther's face with a smirk.

“Get off of me you sick animal” Esther screams punching the guard knocking him to the ground grabbing his gun, and points it at his forehead.

“Go ahead kill me, you will always be a sick, petty rat, scavenging for food in the streets.” The Guard yells at Esther coughing out blood. Esther pulls the trigger shooting him in the head, two other guards approach her. Esther shoots both of them, another walks sneaks up behind and hits her with a bat. Knocking her out.
