Chapter 1

I bow my head in reverence and express my heartfelt gratitude to my parents ..

My parents were hardworking  and true Karma yogis ,far way from any religion .They were always busy doing their daily duties toward their children and the rest of their family .Hindu religion is based on idol worship in temples and a lot of superstitions associated with it .Arya samaj was founded by Swami Dayanand Saraswati to get rid of idol worship and worship Fire and water based on our ancient Vedas .

Thank you for teaching me the value of Sacrifice and Suffering, which no books could have ever taught me .

My parents never believed in offering money to priests,  instead they wanted it to be given to poor people .

Although  they left us twenty two years ago , yet I always feel their presence in my healthy body and mind .

Parents never go away .They remain  present in our every breath .

Jitindra Nath Mawkin, popularly known as Jeet among his relatives was a happy go lucky man even during trying times .Given a parental support ,he would have become an engineer  .He became a tinkerer, instead ,as is popularly called in America .He repaired  his own time piece and we never called an electrician or a plumber home since he could handle it all .

Born with a deep baritone voice ,he loved  to sing and whistle ,quite often .I enever learnt whistling form him .I did borrow his baritone voice and a love for singing .Consequently ,my son is a professional singer today .

Knowingly and unknowingly our parents leave their mark on our personalities for ever .

My father was a great reader of all kind of books ,be they investigative , socio cultural and comedies I ,unknowingly ,borrowed the love of reading from him and passed it on to my daughter who became an avid reader of English literature .

My father was very fond of Arithemtic and passed on his love of Arithmatic to his children .I went on to do my masters in Physics and my younger sister as well as my own daughter became masters in mathematics .Most of the students are fearful of this subject .

As kids ,we never realised the importance of a healthy body and a sound education .As we grow old ,  we are filled with gratitude to our parents for having imparted us healthy bodies and great values at home .They tried to put us in the best of schools and colleges .

Krishna Mawkin ,my mother ,was a highly compassionate woman .

She was kind to each and everyone in the society always .Women in our locality depended upon her to listen to their day to day problems. My mother was a great listener .

She was a strict disciplinarian to herself and never imposed  it on others .

She was greatly fond of all types of art and culture .

She became an excellent teacher to her students learning sewing at her school .

She  had a great ambition for her brothers and her on children .She always wanted them to study well and participate in cultural activities .

Belonging to a lower middle class family ,we always stayed in colonies which were full of uneducated folks around us .As children , we picked  up many good as well as some bad traits from our parents and from our surroundings .

We were never given any religious training as children .My father and mother reman my gods who brought me into this world .

As a science student ,I was always sceptical on the presence of God .Yes,nature nurtures us all through our lives .Fire and water are the most important elements to survive .Sun showers its energy on human beings  animals, birds and vegetation free of cost .

I am always grateful to the SUN , to the man made FIRE and WATER .

I remain grateful to my parents .

Chapter -2

I express my deep gratitude to both of my sisters .

My elder sister grew up with me throughout my life .

Although my younger sister came in later but rmianed an important part of our family .

My elder sister went through a tough time after her marriage .Later on ,she became practically wise like our parents .Always a wise counsellor for her relatives ,she became comfortable towards the later years of her life .Her husband has been down with throat cancer for the past  two years .She has fought with all her vicissitudes wisely and with a great fortitude .

I always feel blessed to have an elder sister who supported me always .At many crisis points during my lifetime ,I depended on her and she always lent  me her best support .

My younger sister had a difficult marriage from the beginning and was divorced quite early in her life with a young daughter .Being a socially active person , she helped herself to pull on with her lonely life .She managed her life well , living with my parents for ten years .

Afterwards,  she managed herself very well alone in her life with the help of her few great friends .

She has been supporting me for the past more than two years in my life's difficult period .She has provided me shelter and food during my difficult days with her daughter lending me emotional support at many times .

Thank you sisters ,you have lent a great support to me always .
