

Two delinquents were cutting classes, wandering inside the forest behind their school.

"...So... let's go to the arcade later. Hey, Shizuka, are you listening to me?" chattered the bleached-haired delinquent.

"Nope... Tell me, why the hell should I listen to your non-stop blabbering, Ryou?" the gray-eyed delinquent answered sarcastically without hesitation.

Ryou puffed his face "I just wanted to have fun..." Ryou spoke.

Then, they laughed loudly. Suddenly, the sound of the rustling of the tree behind them startled them. When they looked above, they saw a dirty stray cat sitting on the tree. Both of them made a sigh of relief. Then, they looked at each other.

Shizuka then called Ryou "Scaredy cat".

"You were also startled" Ryou argued.

Both of them, then argued some nonsense. Then, the cat jumped to Ryou's head. Ryou cursed the cat and Shizuka laughed at Ryou. When they looked at where the cat was heading, they saw a person with blond hair.



At first they thought that person was a she because of his features but it turned out she was a he since he was wearing a guy's uniform. That person then looked at them with his cold blue eyes. Then, turned around and walked away with the cat in his arms. Shizuka was stunned at that person since he looked like someone he knew, someone who saved him from darkness, yet is totally different because of his cold features.

As Shizuka was still wandering in his thoughts, Ryou panicked as he spoke "Th...that person is th...the student council president!"

"Huh?" Shizuka asked as he came back to his senses.

"I said that person is the student council president." Ryou repeated his words for his friend.

Shizuka just whispered "I see..."



Hours later, during dismissal time, Ryou and Shizuka saw the student council president, who was talking to the vice-president, again but this time his eyes are not cold as they were earlier that day. They are smiling from his heart.

Shizuka and Ryou looked at each other with a confused look.



Then, they just went their way to the arcade. They played till eight in the evening.

Then they said their goodbyes and went off in their own way.



As Shizuka was walking home, he saw the student council president again.

Shizuka was surprised when he saw the student council president shout at a stray cat "Get out of my way you filthy pests." As he remembered, the cat earlier that morning was dirtier than the one now. So he concluded the student council president has a multi-personality.

The student council president then passed him as if he didn't know him.

Then, Shizuka was confused and thought "Well, yes, we are not close but at least greet me, jeez!!!"



When Shizuka was walking, he then again saw the student council president sleeping under a tree in the park.

Shizuka went near the student council president and sat beside him. He then looks at the sleeping beauty beside him.

Unconsciously, he brushed off sleeping beauty's lock of hair that was covering his eyes and noticed a star-shaped mole beside the left eye.

Shizuka was shocked and thought "Don't tell me this person is..."

Before he could finish his thoughts someone behind him shouted "Yukie!" Shizuka looked behind him and saw the student council president "But how?" he thought.

The student council president looked at Shizuka and asked him "You are?"

Shizuka still in the state of shock answered "Shizuka Yashiro..."

The student council countered "I see... I'm Yukio Yuriko"

Then, Yukie woke up.

He looked at Yukio then he smiled.

Yukio then told him "Good morning..." even though it was already evening.

Yukie, then, looked at Shizuka and reached his hand.

Yukio asked Shizuka as if he heard Yukie's voice "Would you mind coming to our place?"

"Huh?" was the only thing Shizuka could say at that time.

"To thank you for staying with Yukie till the end..." said Yukio with a smile on his face.



Yukie and Yukio's house - no not a house but a mansion - was grand.

The entrance was a tall, golden gate. There was also a very large rose garden. They entered the mansion and the inside was grander than the exterior of the mansion. The moment they entered the mansion a group of maids greeted Yukio only. It was really weird; it was like Yukie was invisible. Yukio told them to prepare some drinks and send them to the green house. Then, they entered the green house. The green house, instead of beautiful flowers, was full of herbs and stuff. There was also a stage at one end of the green house. Yukie sat at the table in the middle of the green house. Yukio, then, told Shizuka to sit anywhere he wanted and left the green house. Shizuka sat beside Yukie and wondering why are his eyes cold.

Then, Shizuka remembered Yukie gave him a lucky charm, a gray-colored pendant, about 10 years ago when he had a complex with the color of his eyes. Then, Shizuka raised the necklace from his neck as he voiced out his thoughts and told Yukie "Yukie, do you still remember this?" When Yukie saw the pendant, he threw a fit.

Unluckily, Yukio just returned with a picture book in his hand and saw the state of Yukie. Then, Yukio threw the picture book to the ground and ran to calm Yukie down.

When, Yukie calmed down Yukio looked at - no GLARED at- Shizuka and yelled "GET OUT AND DON'T EVER SHOW YOURSELF IN FRONT OF YUKIE AGAIN!!!" Shizuka then showed a very painful expression and left that place.



The next morning, Shizuka left his home and was kidnapped by a group of thugs. Before he could resist, he fainted because of an attack to his neck.

When he became conscious, he saw Yukio in front of him. He knew it was Yukio since there was no star-shaped mole beside his left eye.

When Yukio noticed that Shizuka became conscious, he asked Shizuka "What did you do to Yukie? Why did he throw a fit? Why? Why?" Shizuka, still did not have any strength to retort, was not able to do anything.

Yukio took out a knife from his pocket and prepared to kill Shizuka but then...

A voice from Yukio's back shouted "Brother! Don't! Don't spill anymore blood!"

When Yukio looked behind him, there was Yukie. "Why? Why? How?" were the only things that came out of his mouth.

Yukie expressed everything he had hidden "Brother, I knew you were the one who planned that car accident... You were the one who tampered the car brakes... You were the one who killed them... I am the reason why you killed them right? Was it because of the tradition for twins in this family? I was never mute. I could always speak. I... I just... don't want you to throw your life away just for me. You and I are always connected. Do you understand? Both of us are one. You and I are 'Yuki'. I'll stay in the dark. You will stay in the light. We are Yuki Yuriko." Yukie said everything with a sad smile.

Yukio was speechless. He did not know what to do anymore.

Then, he remembered something and asked Yukie "How? How did you know I did it? I hid everything. I hid all the evidences."

"It is because I heard you. I heard your 'voice'. I can hear voices of people that I must not hear that is why I... I hid this from you... sorry... sorry...sorry" Yukie said these while crying on his knees.

Yukio cannot stand his precious brother crying on his knees anymore so he forgave his precious brother saying "I understand... I won't kill him but why did you throw a fit at the green house last night?"

"The pendant... I gave him the pendant the day our parents died..." Yukie said this as he looked at Shizuka.

"And Shizuka, sorry for making you experience such painful experience... " Yukie added

"It is fine. As long as I can help you it is fine. You are the one who gave me my smile so I'll do anything to give you your smile back" is what Shizuka was thinking, all because he didn't have the strength speak.

All he could do at that time was to smile warmly at Yukie.

As Yukie heard Shizuka's 'voice' Yukie's tears started flowing from his eyes with a smile from the bottom of his heart.

And he said "Thank you, Shizuka. You really are something else."

When Yukie smiled, Yukio was touched and said "Since you made Yukie smile... I'll let you come to this house and meet him again but... if something happens to Yukie I'll kill you...!"



That night, Shizuka learned that Yukie and Yukio's real names are Yuki. Both of them have the same name since their family forbids twins. Normally, they will kill the one who has a poor health since they need a healthy heir but then Yukie, who has a very poor health and was also a girl, has the spiritual power that can only be passed on from mother to daughter, so they decided to let them grow as one.



After that incident, Shizuka had been visiting Yukie and swore himself that he will never leave Yukie alone in the dark again. And if Shizuka cannot be in the dark then he will do anything to stay beside Yukie no matter what since he is his precious friend.
