The smoke pouring out of the port from a distance, alarms raised and panic ensured.

The guard of the room yells at the mayor, overlooking two prisoners handcuffed one storey below in the town hall. "These two are the least of our problems. The Mainshorer pirates are here. We need to be out there defending."

Another guard yells "I agree, why are we wasting time here."

The mayor raises his arms to silence the crowd "I can assure you, the two before you are greater evils. Especially that boy over there.if the phrase the enemy of your enemy is my friend, then these two will no doubt befriend the Mainshorers."

The crowd yells out even louder in defiance against the mayor and the council.

The prisoner raises his right arm up requesting to speak. The young boy continues looking outside the town as more homes are set alight by the Pirates.

The mayor ignores the prisoners plea and continues talking whilst the crowd continue expressing their agitation verbally. Then the head guard draws out his sword, sliding it underneath the mayors throat. With his hand gesture he allows the prisoner to speak.

The prisoner speaks "As you all know I'm from the Garden looking to retire. I want to say that tonight it is not the mayor that decides your fate. It is you!

Mayors come and go. You choose your mayor so tonight you need to do the same. So that you can make the decision that will save your life. Those pirates will enslave you. But if you free me and the boy here, we will promise to protect you provided you give us a home here on Skibuki island.

Head guard, do you accept our proposal?"

The head guard nods in favour with the prisoner. The crowd whispers quickly among themselves and make a quick decision to release the prisoners. The mayor and the council almost immediately receive the handcuff sentence whilst the town moves into the islands only mountain.

The prisoner puts on his gear, strapping on the military suit. The boy looks toward the fire and ships, he doesn't talk a lot but he did speak "You can go with them to the mountains. I can deal with them myself."

The prisoner responds "there's approximately 50 pirates, you think you can take them all on?"

The boy replies "I'll take out the head, the rest will scramble"

The prisoner laughs " you're good. But I'm coming along. Don't want to see you running away after all that I've done for you. You owe me big time"

Chapter 1

The wisp of summer breeze scents the olfactory emotions of beach splashing memories. Nii looks out the window, into the sky where the closest moon to Golem Planet is visible even during the day. 

The outpost on the moon opens like a flower when the conditions are right to send shipments or travellers entering into the planet. Unlike most planets, Golem planet is surrounded by rings of boulders that float on its atmosphere. 

A rapid analogue tapping of the school bell. The class is dismissed for the weekend. Mr law, the teacher of the class, holds his right palm up to halt the class.

The school's AI (artificial intelligence) appears in holographic form, opening the door for the principle to enter.

The principle, Mr Smithson, greets the class and apologies " sorry to hold you up. I'm sure we're all eager to take a dip in beach to cool off. I've been busy all day visiting all the classes. As of tonight we will have exchange students from the garden arriving. They'll be accompanied by the garden's division 1 alpha military, so please be careful. By Monday, the garden students will outnumber us 12 to 1. There's been a huge demand to get into this exchange program.

I'm sure we're all ok with that. Occis is a prime example of a garden student and a golem himself."

Nii lightly punches Occis stoney shoulder, rudely remarking "prime example of a spoiled golem".

Smithson takes a deep breath in "Nii please."

Occis laughs waving his hands to Smithson "No it's ok. Nii's just joking."

Smithson continues " so kids keep safe. Remember if you have any evil thoughts or dreams, be strong least they feed the little demon of Golem Planet and resurrect him to enslave the planet again."

Occis raises his hand and corrects " Sir, the Garden curriculum does not endorse the study of mythology."

Nii replies "you are so boring Occis. Of course it's a myth, just enjoy the story."

Mr Law claps his hand once grabbing attention " Class dismissed."

The entire class bolts out the door with Occis still packing his bag. Nii hops onto the window, looking back he calls "Occis, let's meet at the crystal citadel"

Occis shouts back "Nii I've told you, I don't feel comfortable next to that tower."

Nii jumps off the window landing into the roof of the school hall with both feet intact, then continues down the hill, using parkour to hop between roofs.

Occis arrives at the citadel with Nii on top looking to the moon with a straw of grass out of his mouth.  He looks left and right to find the stairs to the top but unable to find one, he screams "Nii I'm here. Can you come down to teach me more magic?"

Nii replies without turning his head to face Occis, "says the man that does not believe in myths. And how many times do I need to tell you, it's not magic. It's controlling elemental spirits, the very spirits that gave birth to the law of the universe. As a Golem you should know that."

Occis replies " I was born on the Garden, not here. I don't get this knowledge from the garden."

Nii: "there's no difference really. Fire golems are born with the knowledge of the fire spirit and as they age and develop, the second transformation is the use of 'NOT' to inverse the spirit. In the case of a fire golem, they would then be able to control Frost and Ice."

Occis shakes his head "I can't even pass the first transformation."

Nii laughs "don't be stupid. You have legs. You're not a nymph golem."

Occis crosses his arms "how many times do I need to tell you, I was not born from an egg like the other elemental golems? I never went through nymph stage. I was born from my mum's womb. And unlike elemental golems, we represent the golem society as scientists, philosophers and researchers. "

Nii drops from his position sliding down the crystal citadel then onto Occis' stone back. "Back in the days, non-elemental golems like yourself were sent as food for the elemental golems for war. Do you know what golems are?"

Occis replies with the Garden's political correctness attitude " Golems have the same equal rights as a human or any other citizen of the Garden..."

Nii interrupts "just shut up with this 'should-talk' , things should always work in theory but that's rubbish. So do you know what a golem, like yourself is ?"

Occis: "I don't see why is is helpful in learning about magic."

Nii: "because how you learn spirits is different to how humans pick up spirits. For starters, we have flesh and that relies on itself to function. But a golem does not require flesh. It moves because each stone is a working connection with each other, and as a system it can function by manipulating them. This is why when you cut the arm off a Golem, they'll simply pick it up and it'll automatically attach as their cores reconnect their body parts back."

Occis " I don't have a core, but last time my arm attached back after you grappled me."

Nii : "you have a core, don't be silly. All golems have cores. For you, we haven't figured out what element it is or whether it's a hybrid element that is too hard to control."

Occis : "hybrid element?"

Nii: "So you know the basic spirit elements of Fire, Water, Magnetic and Earth?"

Occis remarks " Terran you mean? Earth is you ancestral prohibited planet."

Nii : " whatever. Terran spirit then. So you know those laser golems the Windsor Royal family breeds and they hover above this planet?""

Occis: " those were bred? I had no idea. I thought they were native and trained."

Nii: "well you really don't know much about golems do you! The laser golems are a cross between fire golems and magnetic golems. Now magnetic golems don't exist in bipedal form nor in large form. They're tiny insects everywhere. You know that light is electromagnetic radiation, hence a light golem is a cross between magnetic and fire. Sometimes magnetic spirit is confused with shock spirit.

But there's a problem, how do you cross a small magnetic insect golem with a gigantic fire golem?"

Occis scratches his head.

Nii replies " first you collect all the crystal cores of magnetic insect golems. Then you bind them all together with magnetic spirit, if you have a magnetic Mage they will do this. The crystal fragments will then bind and align into one large shock core. Once that is done you look for a dead golem and insert the core in and they'll revive, but they're not the same golem after that. 

And there is the other problem. Their body may be built for fire element, but for shock or magnetic spirit it would degenerate. After a lot of research from alchemists they found the perfect elemental construct for the first hybrid which were the light golems with insect bodies.

Surprisingly they could reproduce from the start and it was a matter of breeding them down the line until they became satellites. "

Occis wonders in amazement: " wow you know so much about golems. I wonder why this material is not in the garden library, I've done countless searches and there is barely anything on it."

Nii: "currently the windsors own much of that research and they're not publicising it."

Occis thought snaps "hang on. If that is true, where do shock golems come from?"

Nii :" I haven't seen a shock golem for a long time, they're rare."

Occis: " there were a lot of the, at the garden along with the fire golems. The shock golems tend to be Giants much like the fire golems. You can tell the difference by the metal poles that stick out of their back."

Nii:" Oh so they're shock golems. I heard golems can now transform into trucks."

Occis: "I thought you were the golem expert. Yes they've been doing this for years. No breeding necessary, but the golem gets to choose once what they want to transform into for 10 years. They cut out the shapes and parts so that you can detach and reattach. Needs a bit of training though."

Nii: " So can you transform?"

Occis shakes his head "haven't decided what I want to be. I want to transform into something more impressive than a car or a truck."

Nii: " coffee table?"

Occis bursts out " how is a coffee table more impressive than a vehicle?"

Nii : " I get to drink coffee from it. Can't with a car."

Occis: " don't devalue me like every other human that think we are tools. Us golems date back to the earth days. It's written in the Jewish scriptures that we existed and that's where we got our names from."

Nii: " how can you devalue an elementless golem? Beats me. My diamond golem is worth so much more than you." 

Occis: " Jerk! You can't own golems, especially the crystal ones. "

Nii perplexed " Since when? "

Occis : "Since Isan."

Nii: "Isan? "

Occis crosses his arm " yeh Isan, the crystal golem that levelled a whole city. When the Royal family first arrived in the garden they offered golems as a form of slave labour. Under heavy contract all golems were bound by them whether they liked it or not. The crystal golems didn't mind but Isan did.

He protested against the rule. As they arrested him, he stood defiant and destroyed the entire development field of the windsors. Thousands of human deaths and he was way too strong for any Golem to hold him down. The council moved quickly to nullify the law which saw an immediate halt and surrender of Isan. But instead of being kept in prison, Isan vanished.

From that day, all Golems are free and not sold."

Nii yawns " sorry I missed all that. So how much for you again?"

Occis responds with a disappointed face grumbling. "More than you"
